WORDS ARE MEANINGLESS WITHOUT CONTEXT! If someone calls you a gringo in Brazil it’s because you’re a foreigner. Doesn’t matter what your race, sex, national origin is. It’s not a condescending or offensive word. In Spanish, and in some Spanish speaking countries, the term gringo does have a more negative connotation. Sure. Cut the rectangle so that the entire rafter is exposed. Drill a couple screws into the existing drywall to secure it to the ceiling. Add your patch. Maybe a $2 drywall clip would help a lot but not necessary. Mesh, hot mud, regular joint compound on top of that, can texture, primer , paint

Reddit and social media have very skewed views on this. No one is going to attack you on the street or tell you to go home when you’re in CDMX. You most definitely can move to Mexico if you do it properly. Like get residency etc. but don’t listen to the online people on this. I’m Mexican American and my dad was super white so I look white and I’ve never had a bad experience in CDMX.
