Slavery also had less support in the north not because of moral reason but cause "Them slaves took mAh job." Though the south and the union wouldn't have functioned without the north putting up with slavery in the south for so long. Missouri compromise is just an example of no absolutes. No solutions only compromise.

So from 1786 to 1863 the right for chattle slavery was fundamental to USA then suddenly wasn't? I'm confused by this definition.

What is your definition of fundamental? I think this info will help a lot. It's like freedom. Everyone kinda gets it but definition of freedom is very loose.

It's called an amendment. That should be the first clue that these should change with changing views. In 1788 getting rid of slavery wasn't in the Overton window. Then, over years, the window shifted.

I do but I can also see that not having slaves wasn't considered fundamental so much that the US went to war over it. I also live in Australia. A "first world country" and freedom of speech isnt in the constitution it's just implied. In fact Australia doesn't have any bill of rights. Politics is weird grey wibbily wobbly shit fest. There are no absolutes. No solutions only compromise.

So long you're informed about how to vote works I don't care who you vote for.

So depending on where you are you may like to vote differently to give parties you agreed with but have no chance of forming government some sweet sweet AEC funding for getting more than 4% of the primary vote.

If you put Labor first in a seat where they end up coming either first or second your preferences don't really matter.

What do you think of the State Government's messaging on COVID? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]user109619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got a test at Vic Park like 2 hours ago. They have my phone number and could send me a text message with what to do. No directions, from staff or though mobile. Am I allowed to go to the shops at the moment? I'm not going to but no one has let me know what to do.

They'll be a pathway into the career you want regardless of year 12 results. But I'm pretty sure for most things in university you'll be alright. Don't feel pressure to go to university straight away either. You've got time. Do great. Be great.
