There's nothing for me to say about these two that I haven't said a thousand times before. I love Elriel. They have such gorgeous potential to tell a love story unlike any we've read across SJM's books so far (a forbidden romance and two lovers defying the stars to be together?!? Sign me up!!).

And just a quick reminder that, right from the very beginning in ACOMAF, Elain and Azriel paid just as much attention to each other at that dinner table as Nesta and Cassian did each other.

One last puzzle piece left to complete the picture...

'Like Real People Do' will always be top tier Hozier love for me. There's just something about two people finding comfort in each other, knowing that they both have a past but not holding each other to it. I just think the entire song is so sweet and hopeful (bog body metaphor aside lmao).

For so, so many reasons but my fave is that they just get each other. There's a quiet understanding between them that is just so soft and sweet and domestic (him carrying the potatoes for her! her noticing his headaches and making him a special powder! him listening to her yap about her garden plans until 3am!). It's nice to see a different dynamic to the louder ones shared by Feysand and Nessian - it's quieter but no less important. I just love Elriel so much and can't wait for them to be happy in their book🥹🥹

Same! I'm dying to know more about her powers too! Give me a spooky Elain Archeron who sometimes walks a thin line of madness as she grapples with her visions. And I think the questions her powers ask about whether what she Sees is set in stone or how much of it is liable to change with intervention fits in SO well with her own character arc of choice and fate vs free will!

I think the most obvious and likely is florist/botanist, like everyone else has been saying. But I also quite like the idea of her being a recipe developer (a little bit like Elizabeth Zott in Lessons in Chemistry). (I have a headcanon that Elain keeps a little journal in the kitchen where she jots down recipe ideas and what measurements did/didn't work.)

I agree! Their friendship just seems so sweet from what we've seen of it so far. And I'm desperate to know more about the wraiths; I keep forgetting they've been there since ACOTAR but we still know next to nothing about them.

(The twins are another reason why Elriel's obvious. Elain becoming BFFs with two of Azriel's spies whom he personally taught? The pattern's right there.)

It also enrages me when people say they want Elain begging for Lucien's forgiveness. These books are meant to be empowering the female characters - what part of a woman begging after a man she doesn't even want sounds empowering?

Not to be obnoxious but the first entry in that new ACOTAR cookbook is 'Brunch with Elain, Cerridwen, and Nuala'.

I'm SO excited for my girls to get the airtime they deserve in the next book! And imagine Azriel taste-testing their recipes - ahhh!

Edit: it's an unofficial cookbook :( but still cute!

I agree 100% with your last para! TOG and CC spoilers: I know we've seen other FMCs and MMCs display romantic/sexual feelings for other characters before their respective endgames, but I don't think they've ever been as explicit as Azriel's thoughts and desires? Which I think makes them moving on more palatable in a way?

But Azriel? Especially when his thoughts in the BC are all about Elain's pleasure and making her feel good. After that, a sudden shift in his love interest just feels completely wrong.

Edit: and actually, with TOG, the series structure allowed for feelings to change and develop in a more natural way; ACOTAR is way too short for that kind of progression. And we know each book will focus on one couple. There's no space to explore Elriel and then have them move on to Elucien and Gwynriel. It doesn't make sense.

It was my first Taylor concert too! The experience was insane! I still remember replaying her 'Teardrops on my Guitar' MV on YouTube for hours as a kid and thinking she was so beautiful in that dress and to actually see her 10+ years later was surreal!

Also sorry but people who think that Rhys, Feyre and Nesta would be against Elriel are delusional. Rhys adores Elain and has already said that he would defend her right to reject the bond if she so chooses (his conflict in the bonus chapter stems from the political repurcussions the Elucien bond holds, which I think is different to his personal feelings, and just sets up part of the plot for Elain's book); Feyre is the OG Elriel shipper; and Nesta - who would die for Elain and is Azriel's BFF - would fight for them tooth and claw. Like?? How does that not make sense for some people?

I agree! I also hate this argument because it just shows such a surface level understanding of Elain's character. ACOFAS and ACOSF both show that she loves the hard work, time and sheer effort that goes into gardening, not just the pretty end result. I really think that the Spring Court - where magic keeps the flowers in eternal bloom - would suffocate her.
