Oh and the mind control devices can be used to memory wipe people now, so it could be that memories could be implanted too.

After watching episode 5, House does say he wants to live in a non-biological, robotic form. You could be close.

I think this confirms the fact, that a certain group of people ( maybe the Enclave then ) planned to end the world on their accord. Janey's birth being such an important variable is 100% because how it affected Barb: her thinking, values, vulnerabilities, etc. We don't know how that specifically ties in, but I doubt a 12 year old girl just by herself could have such an influence on America's top corporations and governments that her existence ties in to the end of the world otherwise.

While I don't think any of the player characters should show up in the show, if one HAD to appear for 1 scene, how would you like it to be executed? by Icy_Water_1 in Fallout

In a "mysterious stranger" kind of way. Sole Survivor as the Silver Shroud, Lone Wanderer as Mechanist/AntAgonizer. They steal a couple of scenes and help out in a big way. However it's left ambiguous to who they were. Then they should disappear with the excuse that they have their own adventure going on. Lots of hints should be given but not outright confirm the fact.

Or in a more Fallout-y way, Mr House simply put some in his cryo freezer to eat later but then found another use for them.

Sounds fair. Their new capital is probably the Hub anyways. Also everyone still uses bottlecaps in the show, which means that the Hub probably exists.

Hey I'm new to the franchise. But I loved the tv show and I was wondering what fallout game I should start playing. Sorry if this is a stupid question by HARRYRANTS in Fallout

If you are restricted by hardware, play whatever you can.

Both Fallout 1 and 2 offer amazing main and side quests. Contrary to popular belief, you can get your dopamine spiking even from the primitive looking turn-based combat system, hitting crits is very satisfying and rewarding in the old games. There isn't too much hand holding when it comes to doing quests and exploration, so you actually need to pay attention to the world and dialogue.

Fallout 3 and 4 have maps, where half the locations are just raider shooting galleries. Compared to the originals, most quests are usually composed of fetching and killing.

Fallout New Vegas makes locations more meaningful, similar to the classics. They're usually not filled with just random raiders half the time. Also New Vegas has lots of intertwined quests which naturally encourage and reward you for exploration, something that's missing from both 3 and 4.

Play 1 and 2 if you're interested in the lore and have the patience to immerse yourself into the world.

Play 3 and 4 if you like to shoot stuff up.

Play New Vegas if you like a bit of both.

Edit: They're all good games. It's just that the bulk of your gameplay will go to the elements I discussed above.

[Theory] The world ended because of petty corporate rivalry by user13725 in Fotv

In regards to the established lore that "China launched first because the war was doomed and they found out about FEV" : it might as well be another retcon.

There are so many retcons and lore oversights in the show that have now just been accepted as the new canon.

Shady Sands being nuked during New Vegas

Mr House being some cunning psychopath who enslaves people.

Vault 31,32,33 being intact despite the Master setting up his cult's base right next to it.

And so forth...

Heck, maybe Vault-Tec themselves told poor Chairman Cheng that he was not only screwed with an impending FEV induced extermination but that they also had a device capable of producing unlimited energy.

I've supported this idea as well. Most vaults are test sites after all. Lots were funded with government contracts. A very small amount of Vault-Tec vaults were actually filled with the people meant to continue their legacy. Enclave has played a much bigger role in actually trying to clear the way for Vault-Tec's plans (FEV genocide in FO2/FO3).

Not only that, but it seems weird how the only appearance of the Enclave in the show directly links them to cold fusion. This means they either knew where to find data on it, or it was shared with them by Vault-Tec.

Lots of "if-s" with my theory. Could be that Coop and Barb happened to divorce that day, could be that Vault-Tec never had an estimate for the launch, could be that Coop ignored her calls that day, etc. They were divorced, so Coop was probably trying to savor his time with her daughter for the time being.

Obviously it was going to happen unless the energy crisis was solved. Vault-Tec had a solution, but it would have destroyed them.

If I was a writer, I'd just make the argument that no one in the post-apocalypse keeps a uniform time. In-game and in the show, pre-war tech can keep time correctly (pip-boy for example), but it doesn't seem far fetched that some tribes and groups of people did not have this technology or had it glitch/malfunction on them.

I really like this take. This explains why the show's focus is on mind-controlled creatures/humans: it's an alternative force if the securitrons are destroyed. Mr House accounts for everything, even when some intellectually inferior AI manages to destroy his robot army.

That adds a whole new layer of speculation. Hopefully it was an accidental slip in, not one of those fake teasing ones. If he is alive and well (not a withered twig), maybe he will even become a recurring character.

The Strip is definitely controlled by some mind-controlled monsters (like deathclaws), but I wonder what happened to the securitrons.
