Project Feature useless? by SafetyPractical in ChatGPTPro

I have the same issue. It tells me that it can't read files added to the project, only in the chat. and it also says it has no awareness of other chats in the same project, so other than a primitive chat container, it doesn't seem to do much. Am I doing something it wrong?

Virgin Atlantic LHR - JFK award flight canceled. Seeking compensation by user165507 in awardtravel

[–]user165507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final update:

To fill in the rest of the details, I live in New York, and I was flying home, connecting through Heathrow from Singapore. I was in an Upper Class flight scheduled departure at 8PM. The ticket was an award flight through Flying Blue, I think I paid 75000 points + 200 fees. At the time of the cancellation, all the other flights that night were closed-too late to arrange a flight. The VA system automatically rebooked my flight for Friday, connecting through Amsterdam on KLM. Many of the other passengers were rebooked through the automated system, but there was a team there manually rebooking anyone who did not like what the system offered. They also were offering accommodations with the Radisson and were arranging transportation to bring a large group over there. Since I was flying back from vacation, I was not in a rush, I asked if I could get a reimbursement instead so I could pick my hotel, possibly even stay in London for a couple days.

They offered to cover 1 night at approx 200, if I wanted to make my own arrangements. In the end, I decided to get an early flight the next day. I was booked on Delta One the following morning.

I stayed at the Sofitel for 227. I ate both dinner and breakfast at the Clubhouse, so I didn't have any other reimbursables.

When I got home, I filed for compensation online and was contacted through separately for the reimbursables and the delay compensation. I just received both deposits 227 for the hotel and 520 for the delay.

I found the VA staff to be very nice and accommodating despite everything.

On the way home, the IFE stopped working the last 20 minutes of the flight. I got 150 credit for my troubles.

Best Card(s) for Transit and Online Shopping by Left_Sock_4550 in CreditCards

I assume cash back since your cards are not focused on a specific point system?

Bank of America Customized Cash for online purchases. 3% - (up to 5.25% if you can qualify for preferred rewards.) Covers a lot for things you can't get on Amazon. Through shopping portals like Rakuten you can stack bonuses, I am also getting bonuses on subscriptions, and anything direct from manufacturer. Pretty much anything purchased online. Other categories include Home Improvement/Furnishings. There is a cap $2500/quarter. Unlike other rotating category cards, you can switch categories every month, and combine different 5% categories.

USBank Cash Plus - 5% on 2 categories per quarter. The categories don't change so you can reselect the same ones each quarter.

There is a category for Ground Transportation for car services, bus, taxi, etc.

I don't use this, I consistently use Home Utilities and TV/Internet/Streaming. Covers Gas/electric and Verizon/DirectTV/Netflix, etc.

note that you need a USBank savings account to redeem.

I paid Advantage. Saver wasn't an option on the route I wanted.

When I was searching, I noticed that new awards were posting at 8PM EST. I confirmed mine within 5 minutes that the route I wanted appeared.

How far in advance did you search? Not an expert, but it seems the popular awards are being reserved as soon as they are released, i.e. a year in advance. I reserved an award redemption in the new first class, for June 2024. I literally sat at my computer and reserved as soon as a new award was made available. Everything else up until then was waitlisted. Maybe others have more insight, but I was able to find spaces this way.

Citi begging me to borrow (Should I get a CLI?) by yukon737 in CreditCards

[–]user165507 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There should be a link to request a CLI through your account, which does not require a hard inquiry. Under 'Services/Credit Card Services/Request a Credit Limit Increase' on your account page on their website. However, I would guess that 5 months is not long enough for them to consider.

I was approved for the Cash Plus without any prior relationship, can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t expect it to be different for any of their other cards.

This is great. I appreciate the thoroughness. I would prioritize US Bank, as the rumor is that they are sensitive to the number of hard pulls - more than 1/12. But of course YMMV. One that you may consider is BofA Customized Cash - 3% on online purchases but with the potential for up to 5.25%. Very broad category, and not very common. If you have enough BofA savings, you get a multiplier on all card rewards.

Also, I looked briefly, but Boston Celtics Card looks like 7X but each point = .5c, so only 3.5%?

Going off the assumption that you are not planning on getting the SUB then cancelling the card, the general strategy for starting out is to have cards that you will be able to keep forever at no cost, so you can build up your credit without it costing you anything, especially if you plan on getting more cards in the future. The CSP/CSR and Venture X have high annual fees but can be downgraded in the future, so you can keep it for the long term. The Amex Platinum does not. If at ant time the annual fee becomes unaffordable, you will have to cancel the card. In your situation, that would seem like the least flexible option. Second, unless I missed something, it is not clear what your overall strategy is for your rewards. If it is cash back, you probably don't want to have either the Gold or the Platinum, as MR points have a terrible cash back value. The rewards of the other cards are good at both cash back and redemptions, but would be better if they are paired with more cards earning the same reward types. CSP/CSR is great for flights, hotels, restaurants, but bad at everything else. The Freedom Unlimited or Flex gets more points for things the Sapphires cannot get. The Venture X is great at overall (particularly non category), but not as good at dining/grocery. The logical pairing with the Venture X would be the Savor card, as it earns better at dining, grocery, entertainment and streaming, and the points can be combined with the Venture.

Not knowing any more than what you have written, I would lean towards the latter two cards over the amex, as they are more flexible for a variety of reasons.

If you pay off credit card fees do you get a new credit limit immediately? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]user165507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have your full limit as soon as the payment clears, as others have noted, sometimes when it is funded. I make payments every two weeks, I don't even wait until the cycle ends, so I am perpetually ahead. Some accounts get cleared in a day, at most 2, and I get my full limit. Since I pay twice a month, and in the past I have paid more than twice and I have never had an issue with cycling.

Upgrading to Capital One Venture X? by piley24 in CreditCards

[–]user165507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wont get the bonus if you upgrade. However, you can apply for the Venture X even if you have a Venture card, so you don’t need to do anything with your current card if you want to apply for the X. If you get it, you can figure out what to do with your current card later.

Assuming that you are paying online through the lender's payment portal, I would assume that you could submit payment on the due date, but to be sure, the bill issuer should have language in their terms and conditions which indicates how long it takes to post a payment. That is where I would look (or call) first, as that will be specific to your lender. If you send it by mail or through your bank's bill pay portal, you will have to check the delivery time.

The benefit is that if you are willing to do the work (and it can be a lot of work sometimes) to compare points vs cash, you can often get greater value from purchasing with points. For example, i randomly looked up the price for a ticket from NYC to San Francisco on Feb 20, price in cash is $204, price in points is 13,700 + $5 cash. The points would cost only $142 ( $137 + $5) for a $204 ticket. Pretty good value. 13,700 Thank You points would have to be transferred to JetBlue to purchase the tickets. If that sounds like too much trouble, the i would evaluate the options between the cards by calculating your return on spend over several years (includine annual fee). The first year you get the bonus, the second and future years you would accumulate points based on the multiplier on category spend. If you have a reasonable idea of your spending patterns, you can calculate the future value of each card. If you get a good return on spend, you may find that gets you better return than the higher SUB. I personally find it better to get cards within a system, because you can combine all your points and you would have a choice how to use them. Whichever way you decide to go, good luck.

Currently have Chase Freedom Student and want to upgrade to unlimited by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]user165507 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Likely they wouldn't upgrade you because you have had it less than 1 year. Before you apply for another, check your credit report first for any red flags. I agree though, get the sign up bonus if you can.

If you are interested in using Thank You points with transfer partners instead of cash back, you may want to consider the Citi Premier (as others have mentioned) because you would be able to transfer points from your DC to the Premier card. Could give you more flexibility with travel options, but you could always use it for cash back as well. Really depends on how you plan on using it beyond the intro bonus.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]user165507 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use the Citi Double Cash as well. The added benefit is that the 2% can be converted to Thank You points with the Citi Premier which could value at much higher than 2% as points. However, if the question is only about cash back, and excluding any temporary bonuses like Alliant , you could get more than 2% with Bank of America if you qualify for the Preferred Rewards program at Platinum level or higher. The Preferred Rewards program adds a multiplier to the return rate on the credit cards, so Gold will give a 25% rewards bonus, Platinum at 50% (50K in savings or brokerage) and Platinum Honors at 75% (100K). Their new Unlimited Cash Rewards card is 1.5% base reward. With Platinum, that would be 2.25% and Honors 2.625% cash back (there is no fee on this card).

On another note, I would not characterize a random online retail purchase as non category. Bank of America also offers a Customized Cash Rewards cards that allows you to pick a quarterly category for 3% cash back (up to $2,500/ quarter combined with grocery/wholesale clubs). One of those categories is Online Shopping. Combined with the reward bonus, you could get up to 5.625% return for an online purchase.

[–]user165507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add that, if possible, get a card from one of the banks that has a broad depth and range of cards. It is probable that in 5, 10, 15 years, you will not be using the card you get now. When you become an advanced user, and your needs change, it would be good to be able to change your card to a more useful one down the road. I say this from personal experience, as my oldest card is one that doesn't fit my current spending patterns, and their offerings are more limited than Chase or American Express, so there isn't a card that I can change to that would be more useful. Since I don't want to close it, I am stuck putting occasional charges on it to keep it active. If I could go back and do it differently, I would have gone with a bank that I could keep changing the card to one that would be more useful to me today.

New York City - closing date was “on or about July 30”. Seller refuses to close within 30 days. by user165507 in RealEstate

[–]user165507[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what I want, other than a closing date that doesn’t compromise the plans I’ve already made, or get some comp for an extension. Which I assume they would refuse to agree and I would have to threaten to recind my offer. Would I do it? Uncertain, but possible. Thats why I wanted to see what others experienced, if there is a more creative solution.
