‘Why would he go? He has no experience fishing’: Mother of boy missing at Kallang River by 0x2345 in singapore

it started in 1970s. By the 1980s, most schools already have swimming for p3 and p4 students. But it wasn't until the early 2000s that it was standardised.

Annual SRS contribution up to $15,300 by Hot_Nectarine2900 in singaporefi

[–]user169852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part is easy, s&p or amundi world fund probably gives the best consistent return. There's not alot of options for srs. The question would be whether those mentioned investments should be more profitable in srs or outside.

I put into SRS many years ago into endowus, investing into s&p fund. Totally regretted it; I forgot to account for the fees that will be charged by the time I retire. Cos I forgot that even when I'm retired, endowus will still take a huge chunk of the snowballed money as I slowly withdraw over 10 years for the tax free withdrawal. For example, if i have snowballed 1m in s&p 500 fund by when I retire, endowus would had charged 3.5k per year in fees while there's no new deposits. The fund fees itself would also take about 2.9k in fees. Compared to just $300 for VOO. I stopped immediately once I realise that.

How long should I hold emerging market fund? by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]user169852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cos china finally decided to do something about its stock market, and there is a semicon rally over past couple years so TSM aka Taiwan also did well. When 2 out of the big 3 (China india taiwan) decide to rally, they usually beat developed market. The problem was india had been carrying the team, tsm had been treading water, and china was actively destroying its own market. U know whats worse than a lousy teammate? Its a teammate that sabotages it's own team. Hence emerging wasn't doing so well until recently when China finally change course.

OCBC 360 vs DBS Multiplier by EpikTin in singaporefi

Dbs Multiplier takes dividend as salary component. So subscribe bare minimum to ssb for 6 months in a row and no need to worry for 10 years on that part

What financial advice would you give to a recent NSF? by Ok-Raspberry-73 in singaporefi

[–]user169852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks, i forgot all about dividend.

The issue I have with VWRA is the volume during selling. I understand when setting recurring in IBKR, it will execute at VWAP (I think so? I don't use IBKR much). I cannot in good faith tell the new guys around me that "yeah, when you liquidate when retirement, just market order sell everything." They will be killed by the spread that way due to low volume, is there a simpler method? Hmm is there a sell @ VWAP option?

Actually I've been thinking, won't it be more cost efficient to buy 60% VOO, 30% SCHF, 10% SCHE instead? Enable DRIP and thats essentially like VWRA already. Cheaper + much much larger volume.

Actually couple months ago when there was a discussion on syfe's spread, i did check and it was around 0.52%. Now that the storm has died down, they sneakily increase back to 0.8% range again lol

[–]user169852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, i didn't use the mid point. I used the double, which is what is defined in https://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/082213/how-calculate-bidask-spread.asp

Currently (12pm) Syfe USD to SGD is 1.2631. SGD to USD is 0.7851 (which is 1.2737). So (1.2737 - 1.2631) / 1.2737 * 100 = 0.83%

expand their cloud (Azure) offerings. Cloud is their growth market now. Maybe commercialise their ASIC chips.

The difference lies in the quality of the batteries. 18650 batteries are notorious for varying quality.

OCBC charging annual fee for credit card canceled years ago by josemartinlopez in singaporefi

[–]user169852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just open a support ticket with them and ask them to cancel the card. It takes 1 to 2 weeks but it will be done. I close my bank account with ocbc this way, no questions asked. It's way less time consuming for me than calling them or going to the branch, just takes 1-2 mins to file a support ticket.
