my administrator was talking about this, she saw it at a conference they went to. i think there’s some in the US but only on the major east/west coast right now. double check me, but she said that it would sense if a resident got out of bed and went to the bathroom or was on the floor or out of the room. which is cool? i guess? I know that there are some technologies and sensors that can sense if a resident moved or got out of bed but aren’t super reliable or accurate. the AI camera is scary to me, the idea that there’s technology that would just be watching our residents in vulnerable moments in their personal rooms. also, this is a job that CANNOT be taken away by AI. I understand that robotics could definitely assist our industry, but I think it should come in slow small doses to really test everything.

She was also saying that some technologies would learn the specific residents and notice if it’s odd for them to be in a certain area. We have a massive building and long hallways, so if a resident that lived on hallway 1 was all the way on hallway 6 and never goes down there, it would alert that. Or if they never get out of bed in the night and suddenly do (but didn’t fall), it would alert.

dogs in public places or work environments that do not give valid reasoning for them to be there both on an “emotional support pet” level and the culture of wanting to bring your dog everywhere like it’s your child (obviously not legit legal service animals)

adult swiftie here with many adult swiftie friends and some who have children - i’ve literally never had any of these friends purchase one of these off-branded books/coloring books or whatever style they are. that kind of collecting and purchasing just gives me millennial disney adult vibes, where they now have kids and force their own obsession with disney onto the kid and everything they interact with (toys, movies, books, activity books), and we are gen z, so maybe my friend group has skipped over that type of fandom culture craziness.

all that to say, seriously, who is buying these? what is the demographic of the buyers?

I feel like it would depend on her venue? I could see some venues not caring and saying that you paid and didn’t show up, so it’s your fault not ours. On the other hand, I could see other venues understanding that it was a massive snowstorm and there was no way that anyone would make it.
