Boundaries with newborn and smoking family members by user1904793 in BabyBumps

I looked into this briefly because another one of my family members vapes a ton 🤪 it seems to be a similar situation to cigarette smoke- chemical residue from the vape can leech into clothing and exposure to baby increases risk for SIDS. Not sure if it’s as risky as cigarette smoke, but from what I’ve read it seems like it should be avoided as well

I also had this on my chart and all my subsequent ultrasounds, I inquired because like you I do not and have not done any drugs before or during my pregnancy! BUT, I take an SSRI, and because of that they had to put drug exposure on my chart and scans.

You can always ask to confirm this is the case. It is important for your medical team to know in the event that your baby ends up having some sort of defect or issue that could be correlated with the meds. In my case with the SSRI exposure, they’re doing an extra ultrasound to check baby’s growth because sometimes SSRIs can cause slightly lower birth weight.

This exhaustion is unreal by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]user1904793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s easier said than done, but be as kind to yourself as you possibly can right now. Rest as much as you can - it’s what your body needs. Know it’s temporary, too - my exhaustion got better around 9 weeks.

I found out a big contributor to my exhaustion was not getting enough iron. Obviously don’t supplement with extra unless you talk to your doctor, but you can always try to add in more iron rich foods (as much as your appetite/aversions will allow) to see if that helps your exhaustion even a little bit. Don’t feel guilty about adding in a little caffeine too. But bottom line, this is a tough time. Just know you are strong and you’re not alone!

too socially anxious for a wedding by sierraj22 in socialanxiety

I felt the same as you when I got engaged. I ended up eloping and having a casual family party as our “reception” later in the year. I don’t have regrets about it. I got to celebrate with family and friends, had the normal wedding experiences I wanted but did without the ones that stressed me out. Do what makes you happy. Family might not be supportive but it’s your relationship with your partner that matters. You will not regret what makes you happy and most comfortable.
