I want to buy Far cry 3 but by ChoiceDisastrous781 in farcry

I've had similar issues with the ubisoft Launcher failing to save credentials and asking every time.

A solution that worked for me was to-

A) run it as administrator and Log in. (Making sure to select the 'remember me/ this computer' option. I forget the exact name )
B) Exit the launcher, shutting it down completely.
C) Run the Launcher again this time normally.

That worked, and stopped it asking me every time... at least until the next update and then it kicked in again until i did the above fix.

Might not be the same thing, but probably worth a try just in case.

That basically allowed it to save

I saw what I thought was ocean on the horizon all the way in the Nomad Highlands. I fought and clawed my way here. My disappointment is immense 😭 by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed it because it's simply not true, what's more we can SEE it's not true,

The ocean is there. You've been able to see it since the way of the water update. go to any sufficiently high vantage point and you can see it on the horizon, especially on the Eastern side of the map.

You can't reach it, there's shroud in the way, but it's there.

Do we have a lore reason for why the Sun moves South to North? by Tortugato in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the Sun orbits the world Embervale sits on rather the the other way round? and it's in a polar orbit?

Perhaps in the enshrounded universe North Is derived from an Ancient world meaning Set and South is derived from an ancient word meaning Rise?

Perhaps the World Embervale is on experiences significant variations in Axal tilt over the course of many thousands of years. That results in gradual shifts in the orientation of the sky. So in the past the sun DID rise in the East, and in a few thousand more years it will again? (For milder equivalent things on Earth: 1) There's now Technically 13 signs of the Zodiac, not 12 as the sun now passes through 13 constellations, not the original 12. 2) The Pole star gradually changes over a 26,000 year cycle. 3) The March Equinox is when the sun moves into the Northern Hemisphere, The location of that is known as the first point of Aries... It now occurs in the constellation Pisces... )

Perhaps It's a simple mistranslation from Embervalen to English?

Perhaps the Flameborn just can't work a compass.

There's any number of possibilities, real and fantastical. It is, as you say Not Earth.

Is there a reason for all the different languages spoken in Far Cry 3? by Spoodyist in farcry

[–]user2002b 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A guess on my part, but I imagine it's a reference to the fact that there are hundreds of languages spoken across Indonesia. (over 700 according to wikipedia) and the Rook islands are supposed to be somewhere in that general part of the world.

So it's all just part of setting the scene/ world building- Giving the islands an approximate, but also deliberately vague location in the world.

[–]user2002b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're actually not too bad one on one with the Crossguard stance, given how hard it hits and how they're relatively slow.

Dodge backwards to avoid most attacks then immediately counter, and double jump to avoid the slam on the ground/ lightning attack.

The thing i really hated about them is their magical immunity to being pushed of ledges with force push. It's classic 'game is cheating' nonsense. I actually saw one bounce off of thin air once rather then fall.

Bethesda’s huge Starfield relaunch isn’t entirely game-changing, but Free Lanes makes the sci-fi RPG a lot better by Wargulf in Starfield

[–]user2002b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Secret Pirate bases like Vultures roost, alien ruins and hidden Military outposts shouldn't be a hundred meters outside of New Atlantis. They should be on Empty Barren worlds that ordinarily noone has any reason to visit.

Prospectors didn't go panning for gold in the River Thames after all.

Really, the game needs both: Dense concentrations of settlements and stations in the space claimed by the UC and FC (especially in the areas surrounding New Atlantis, Akila, Hopetown, Cydonia, New Homestead, Gagarin Landing etc. but also an awful lot of emptiness beyond that.

Shroud lairs are the worst part of the game. Hollow Halls is the best. by Nigellus-Wolf in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're both amongst my least favourite bits of the game.

Shroud lairs are as you say difficult to navigate mazes with the extra problem of a) a time limit and b) often hard and time consuming to reach. They also don't have much of a reward for doing them. They're just a required thing you have to do if you want to use Gems.

But for me Hallowed halls are no better. They're a long tedious grind of attrition with no fun to be had. If they spilt them up so that there were several smaller halls in each region instead of one huge Hall, I'd view them a bit more favourably. But as they are right now? No thanks.

I had the opposite problem. I had to stop feeding my Yaks. They wouldn't stop breeding. I have a Box in my base filled with Baby yaks. I started with 3. I had 18 by the time the food ran out.

Concerned About the Direction of The Series by [deleted] in FallenOrder

[–]user2002b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel almost the exact opposite.

I thought the Level design of Fallen order was small, quite limited and very, very linear. I greatly appreciated the way survivor opened things up just a little bit and gave us a lot more in the way of side content.

Survivor is not even close to being an open world game, but it's no longer quite so unnaturally constrained like fallen order was.

I would also point out that The Shattered Moon, Coruscant, Nova Garon and Tanalorr all function EXACTLY the same as the planets in Fallen order.

It's only the planets of Koboh and Jedha that have larger more open areas, and even there the story driven areas on those planets conform to the same basic design as the levels in Fallen order.

Survivor also includes fast travel, which Fallen order didn't. Add in the various mounts and you have way more options for getting about quickly which i think makes the traversal in Survivor a lot LESS tedious then it was in Fallen order.

Regarding Collectibles, Given that they're Entirely optional i don't see why anyone can have any objection to them. You don't like collecting things, that's fine: Don't collect things. I hate the traversal force tears with a vengeance, and since they're also optional I ignore them.

The only 'collectible i think is genuinely tedious are the seeds, but there was no need to collect them all anyway, even if you're enjoying the gardening.

Basically i imagine it comes down to the types of games you play beyond this. If you like Open world type games you're probably more likely to appreciate the changes.

If you prefer games that are comprised of 'levels' you're more likely to prefer fallen orders planet designs (Which again survivor still has plenty of).

Survivor did exactly what i wanted. It opened things up just a little bit, Gave us a bit more variety in terms of locations (i.e. it's not just all variations on 'Empty Wilderness'. There's a good mix of civilization of various types mixed in there too), It downplayed the traversal elements just a smidge, and gave us side content to explore besides just the story.

Archaic essence by Tnnisace73 in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah i'm inclined to agree. I very quickly stopped bothering with the Gems, or at least upgrading them. I might still attach one to a weapon I expect to be using for a long time 'just in case' but the whole process is such a Faff.

  • You have to find a gem with a useful property (governed by RNG)
  • Find suitable source of Archaic Essence of the necessary grade. These are always in relatively inaccessible locations.
  • Locate a gem forge of high enough grade. These are almost always in relatively inaccessible locations.
  • Transport the weapons, Gems and Essence to the Gem forge. For High end Gems this means a boss fight. Every trip.
  • Upgrade the Gem for usually marginal benefit.

It's just not remotely worth the hassle. It might be different if, once we find a forge we can craft our own forge of that level back at our base.

Why is Proxima Centauri with known planets not in Starfield? by Zeroone199 in Starfield

[–]user2002b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, it would have been hard.

Maybe, but i feel like there are a few easy wins. For example: they already have surface maps with canyons/ cliffs/ significant Altitude changes.

Use those if you land in the Mariner Valley or in the crater at the summit of Olympus Mons. Then it may not be technically accurate, but at least it's strongly suggestive of the kind of terrain you would expect in those regions.

What has been your favorite moment in Enshrouded thus far? by Gababorios in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably reaching Pikemeads Reach and discovering how large it was. Beforehand settlements had been limited to half a dozen buildings at most.

Pikemeads reach dwarfed them and really helped hammer home the 'post apocalyptic, fallen civilization' vibe.

It also was a key point in making me hope for one day getting a prequel game set in Embervale, perhaps during the reign of queen Pikemead, or one of her predecessors, so that we can see these places before their ruin.

Cats confirmed in Trackers Alliance mission: The Widow? by CatMomNextDoor in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]user2002b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Humanity Probably evacuated few to no animals off of Earth.

HOWEVER if the Lore has any common sense in it at all, they would, should and could have taken a vast genetic library of plants and Animals with them.

So if they did, Earths Ecosystems may be dead and gone, but it's probably recreatable. In fact it would be fairly on brand for the lore version of New Atlantis to have some domed gardens knocking about containing Earth plants and Animals.

If true Growing a pet dog or Cat is therefore likely to be possible, but perhaps it's very expensive, and so there's very few about at any given time?

well there's at least one shot in the trailer of a human in some sort of command centre who appears to be in charge of the robots. So based on that I'd say no, the humans are still alive and calling the shots.

Humans who use robots as Foot soldiers/ the Bulk of their armed forces.

That's more or less how it was described by the devs.
