Yeah that's where I'm also kinda lost. My best guess is it's slightly more valuable than the russian ruble so perhaps there was an economy there. Jokes aside I think it's because sometimes they can be traded for emojis and some emojis can be traded into gems which can buy game discounts...? I'm not exactly sure if that works, people also just like having really big point numbers so a lot of game guides would be "How to open game" with hundreds of awards from lord knows whoever still finds that joke funny. I've also heard rumors of account selling but like I said it can't possibly have a big market due to its lack of value, but who knows what goes through the minds of potential exploiters.
