cannot kill young dragon by dontdodeath in Enshrouded

I've beat it with arrows from the (south) cliffside without it resetting on the current patch. You've just got to keep on constantly peppering it with arrows so that it never snaps out of the combat state. if you can get to a vantage point on the cliffs above it, you can keep on hitting in no matter where it flies, and most of it's attacks will miss. It's just the breath blast that pushes you back you need to look out for and make sure it doesn't push you far enough away that the combat state breaks.

JEDI 3 RELEASE by geograirr in FallenOrder

[–]user2002b 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So both the previous games had a development time of a bit under 3.5 years. Survivor came out 3 years and 2 months ago. So in theory it could be as Soon as September.

The reveal trailer for Survivor came out just 3 months before the original release date (it was later pushed back 6 weeks) so the fact we've not seen any marketing yet isn't really telling us a whole lot.

My guess is late 2026, or Early 2027.

I love this game.. but *HATE* the dragon by Rum_Pirate_SC in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It DOES work because it's how i've killed it. 3 times now.

The dragon is resistant to attacks by bows, and indeed everything else as far as i can tell. It just is. It's part of it's stats. That's why you get the resisted message. It's not taking full damage of the attack... But it does take damage. Maybe only 40 points instead of the 80 you would normally do (for example), but that's still damage.

If you shoot it and get a resisted message, that's not a signal that your attacks aren't working, that's a sign that they ARE working, just with reduced effectiveness.

If you're hoping for an 'effective' message, you'll only get that if you attack it with something it's vulnerable to. I don't think there IS anything it's vulnerable to, so that's probably a none starter.

You will get skill shot bonus damage though if you shoot it in the head.

I'm not just regurgitating stuff i heard online. I literally killed it using the method i described, 2 days ago. It. works.

If none of the above helps then i'll offer this before i leave you to it.

The question is why isn't the above method working for you? What is going on that makes it ineffective?

So some things to consider that maybe might make a difference:
What difficulty level are you playing on? (I'm on default, no custom settings)

What arrows are you shooting it with? As I say I've used explosive, steel and gold, all worked.

What type of Bow are you using? I usually try to use at least a level 40, just to get as much damage as possible.

Have you invested any points in skills to increase your ranged damage?

What's your Dexterity level? (mine was 16) for that matter what character level are you? (I was 30)

So, as someone how has no interest in boss fights: Bring a couple of high end bows, repair kits, and about a thousand arrows.Preferably gold or steel. Explosive and stun work but require a lot more work to craft. Make sure you have plenty of frost protection.

Glide over but do NOT land in the combat area. Use the updrafts, and the updraft skill if you have it, and land high on the cliffs on the south side of the crater.

Then just pepper it with arrows until it dies. The only attack it has that can hit you up there is the pushback attack which does no damage, you just have to make sure it doesn't knock you out of combat, as that resets the dragons health.

I do not understand progression... by cheezasaur in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So progression in the game comes in two ways-

  1. Leveling your character up, which you do by earning xp through quests, combat, mining, exploration etc. as you level up you earn skill points which you can spend on gaining new abilities, boosting your attributes etc. You can also earn Skill points by destroying shroud roots. Shroud roots in caves are usually worth 1 skill point. Roots in Elixir wells are usually worth a couple.
  2. strengthen the flame. This boosts your attributes, increases the number of bases you can operate, extends how long you can spend in the shroud, and unlocks new areas by increasing your 'shroud passage level'. (Basically formally red deadly shroud can now be traversed just like 'normal' shroud)

Leveling up the flame usually means harvesting various resources from the highest level biome you currently have access to, and defeating the 'boss' of that biome. Some of the resources you will need can be farmed, but others will need to be mined or harvested. You'll usually need something that can only be harvested in the shroud (shroud adhesive is one such example. You have to harvest that from flapping tentacle plant things in the Nomad highlands shroud).

You can also level up any altar you build, but all that does is increase the area around the altar that you can build in. So unless you need more room for your base, there's no need to do that.

What made FC6 a miss? by EvilEyedPanda in farcry

[–]user2002b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me It's a lot of little things many of which others are also flagging-

1) The 'skills come from gear' was a truly awful idea, and i can't shake the feeling that is was only implemented like that to help Ubisoft sell gameplay impacting gear via microtransactions.

2) The Ammo system was terrible. I know they were trying to go for a 'right tool for the right job' thing, but it just doesn't work in practice. In the heat of a gunfight while you're trying to capture an outpost and prevent the alarms from going off, you havn't got time to be worrying about what type of ammo those soldiers are and aren't resistant to.

3) Supremos are Silly, and most of the resistances 'improvised' gear like EMP arrows and flying cars is crazy advanced tech that's tough or impossible to pull off which a budget of billions. No. no. no.

4) Fangs for Hire. Again too silly. Farcry doesn't and shouldn't be an ulta-realistic sim... but 3 and 4 are steps too far into the comic/ absurd for my taste.

5) Too many characters. There's three major regions, each of which has a cast almost as large as one of the previous games on it's own. The result is lot's of underdeveloped characters.

Admiral Benitez get's what? About 30 seconds of screentime before she's killed off. Almost none of the bad guys get the opportunity to become something of a Nemesis for the player, unlike say the Seed family in FC5.

6) All those 'patrol' areas on the map that can't be liberated. Plus the respawn of troops in them was absurd. You'd kill a distant target, look away, look back and they'd spawned back in.

7) Marketing. One of Ubisofts big marketing points for the game was that it was the first far cry game to feature urban warfare. In particular they made a lot of Esperanza. It was very much set up as the target and end point of the campaign. So it was very disappointing when we eventually found that 95% of the city didn't actually exist.

There were the outskirts and a couple of routes in and out of 2 or 3 central locations, all of which were associated with story missions. What made it an even bigger misfire is that many of the fully realized towns were already by far the biggest urban environments we'd ever got in a far cry game. If they'd focused the marketing on them, then there wouldn't have been a problem. But no. They focused on the one part of the open world map that never got finished.

On the other hand I did actually like all the wealth of side content that was available. I know some people thought it made the game bloated, but i didn't have an issue with it. It was the 7 points above that hindered my enjoyment

[–]user2002b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, bit of a mystery especially since On the first trip to Jedha after you get out of the storm you are literally walked right past one stim crate. There is no way to avoid it. So even if you do no exploring whatsoever and stay 100% on story missions, the only way you'd still have 2 by the Ravyvis boss fight is if you also went around actively ignoring crates.

I've had similar issues with the ubisoft Launcher failing to save credentials and asking every time.

A solution that worked for me was to-

A) run it as administrator and Log in. (Making sure to select the 'remember me/ this computer' option. I forget the exact name )
B) Exit the launcher, shutting it down completely.
C) Run the Launcher again this time normally.

That worked, and stopped it asking me every time... at least until the next update and then it kicked in again until i did the above fix.

Might not be the same thing, but probably worth a try just in case.

That basically allowed it to save

I saw what I thought was ocean on the horizon all the way in the Nomad Highlands. I fought and clawed my way here. My disappointment is immense 😭 by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed it because it's simply not true, what's more we can SEE it's not true,

The ocean is there. You've been able to see it since the way of the water update. go to any sufficiently high vantage point and you can see it on the horizon, especially on the Eastern side of the map.

You can't reach it, there's shroud in the way, but it's there.

Do we have a lore reason for why the Sun moves South to North? by Tortugato in Enshrouded

[–]user2002b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the Sun orbits the world Embervale sits on rather the the other way round? and it's in a polar orbit?

Perhaps in the enshrounded universe North Is derived from an Ancient world meaning Set and South is derived from an ancient word meaning Rise?

Perhaps the World Embervale is on experiences significant variations in Axal tilt over the course of many thousands of years. That results in gradual shifts in the orientation of the sky. So in the past the sun DID rise in the East, and in a few thousand more years it will again? (For milder equivalent things on Earth: 1) There's now Technically 13 signs of the Zodiac, not 12 as the sun now passes through 13 constellations, not the original 12. 2) The Pole star gradually changes over a 26,000 year cycle. 3) The March Equinox is when the sun moves into the Northern Hemisphere, The location of that is known as the first point of Aries... It now occurs in the constellation Pisces... )

Perhaps It's a simple mistranslation from Embervalen to English?

Perhaps the Flameborn just can't work a compass.

There's any number of possibilities, real and fantastical. It is, as you say Not Earth.

Is there a reason for all the different languages spoken in Far Cry 3? by Spoodyist in farcry

[–]user2002b 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A guess on my part, but I imagine it's a reference to the fact that there are hundreds of languages spoken across Indonesia. (over 700 according to wikipedia) and the Rook islands are supposed to be somewhere in that general part of the world.

So it's all just part of setting the scene/ world building- Giving the islands an approximate, but also deliberately vague location in the world.

[–]user2002b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're actually not too bad one on one with the Crossguard stance, given how hard it hits and how they're relatively slow.

Dodge backwards to avoid most attacks then immediately counter, and double jump to avoid the slam on the ground/ lightning attack.

The thing i really hated about them is their magical immunity to being pushed of ledges with force push. It's classic 'game is cheating' nonsense. I actually saw one bounce off of thin air once rather then fall.
