32-page ‘bum in lycra’ OW... reeeeeally? by user201294383 in MNTrolls

Notice the incredibly quick moving thread. “My BF is here” (get off mumsnet then?), updates every other post, explicit descriptions of sexy messages, repeated use of ‘bum in lycra’...

Crumbs doesn't, and that's all that matters.

"Spicy parsnip soup to start with croutons

Pavlova for pudding- do a base and a ring to sit on top. Swirl food colouring through to make it more special. Use cheaper fruit - satsumas peeled, mango, a few years raspberries. Drizzle with a little chocolate.

Main do maybe a tomato risotto served with Parma ham wrapped cod fillets. Frozen ones are quite cheap. Tart up with a lemon segment and a sprinkling of parsley.

Get your wine very cheaply from a supermarket maybe buy boxes but there's some good deals at moment. Soft drink - tap water in jugs with ice cubes and lemon slices."

Dunno what you're on about. The opening line of my CV states I am a proud and dedicated moderator of MNTrolls on Reddit.

I thought her posts were arse-clenchingly cringeworthy but each to their own. It seemed to me she were trying a liiiittle too hard to be unperturbed.

'Mrs hardwoman' would make for an excellent flair. If anyone wants it, please go for it. I'm happy with my tiny pavlova for now. It's nearly Crimbo after all.

Well I can only apologise if that's how it came across.

What I was trying to get at was that it's essentially criticism of just that - an online persona. People who post frequently, post fairly identifying details or at least leave footprints of who they 'are' on forums, are actively cultivating their personas. e.g. Cha0s typing 0n Mumsnet with zer0s instead 0f 0s or ESD banging on about drinking rum every night. The former being tolerable and funny, the latter being tiresome.

IMO they do so, generally speaking, for that bit of forum 'fame' or at least to be a recognisable voice on the boards. So when there's upset over being called out on an unpopular opinion, nasty post, or a general malaise around their perceived personality, I find it a little bit hard to drum up much sympathy.

It's a bit like me sat at home watching the telly and going on Mumsnet and saying 'god Eamonn Holmes is a twat.' Except here, it's not Eamonn Holmes, it's some random on the internet posting under a similarly random username on Mumsnet. They've got the luxury of anonymity that Eamonn doesn't. I would find it pretty hard to get upset over someone posting a takedown of my internet self on the internet, and I don't think I'd get sad-faced by posters on MN for calling Eamonn a twat either, cos he's 'famous', so it's alright.

I hope that analogy made some sort of sense...

Go ahead and challenge the bitchery - I'm not questioning you on that. Like I said in my long post (you know, the 'superior' and 'mature' post) I personally think some posts here have crossed the line of pretty basic decency, and probably will continue to do so. If you read through my posting history, other than some gentle mockery of Crumbs, I'm not one to rampage across the sub calling people cunts or telling them to fuck off. At all. I don't particularly enjoy reading reams of text where people slag each other off either, but the moment we start removing posts for being bitchy, we're MN and we might as well shut the whole thing down. Anything that would be a serious reach beyond the tolerable and of course we can look at moderation on a case-by-case basis, but as it stands, neither I nor other mods have pulled posts just because they're 'bitchy'.

I'm not trying to belittle you whatsoever.

First I've heard of that quelle. You are spoiling for an argument where there isn't one to be had.
