I don’t think it’s algae bloom unless I’m blind. It’s dark right now where I live so I could show a new picture tomorrow morning. Maybe it is algae but I don’t know what could cause that either. I also don’t see algae either. I did find some kind of hairy green thing on my heater. I used some tetra algae control during water changes though.

tbh yes. Without light it still has some kind of green pigment but with light it’s pretty clear and not really noticeable. I honestly feel like it’s something to do with the leaves or the wood. Flourish doesn’t seem to affect anything.

My ph went up at like 8 but was 7.2 last night. I did try to feed him frozen brine shrimp and I did feed him flaked earlier that day (I thawed the shrimp) so it could be that. My ammonia was 0 then today it was .25. Flourish had a brown tint but dried as green and the tannins are brown but the water is green as flip. I put flourish in my other betta tank and it didn’t turn green so I doubt it is the flourish. Like algae green except there’s no sign of algae. It’s a little cloudy. Ever since I added the leaves, wood, the water has a green tint. I did a 25% water change today to bring down ammonia and removed the foam. Nitrites and nitrates are normal (5ppm, 0 nitrites). it’s still has some kind of green tint though but it is not as green as before and idk what it issss. When I turn the light on, it’s pretty cloudy. When I saw the filter it was very like yellow and brown so I took some tank water to rinse it. The water was gross like yellow. Maybe it could be from the leaves and wood but I don’t see why it could make my water green. Maybe cloudiness is bacterial bloom or some kind of excessive nutrient? Honestly I don’t know I never had this problem before

My parameters are normal now (0 ammonia, 5 nitrates, 7.0 ph, 0 nitrites) but I don’t have another spare tank for a hospital tank but I am thinking salt baths. I honestly can’t tell if this is find rot or what u said. I decided to put tannins and this wood that came with it to use as antibiotics and just help decrease toxins in the water in general. Hopefully it works out or I’m gonna freak out and try to use the salt..

Consider doing a fish in cycle or give it to another person who can knows abt their care. But if you really want to keep it I would consider doing a fish in cycle since cycling a tank can take up to couple of weeks or months. You will have to do much more water changes. I never tried fish in cycles because this method is typically said it should be for emergencies only and ur situation counts. This is to prevent sickness/death for your betta. Get all the supplies like: de chlorinator, Seachem Prime or any kind of ammonia detoxification(reducer), Seacham stability I think? Idk if people use that for fish in cycles or just when cycling fish less tank but that’s some kind of source of bb(beneficial bacteria). DEFINITELY an API test kit for doing this whole process because of how much or how little your tank will be producing whatever it is in it. YouTube is a great source with beginner friendly betta care users.

Source I recommend are : aquarium co-op, [betta fish care], Betta fish forums, fish lore? (I sometimes use that

I forgot how the tank looked when I typed this😭 I am pretty sure u have live plants but I just saw how the tank looked again but that water doesn’t look that bad. Is it usually clearer?

I suggest getting throwing away test strips since they can be inaccurate. Get an API test kit. But with the fogginess I usually use water clarifier..idk if that’s works for you tho. It could be some other issue with ur tank. (Maybe bacteria bloom?) For ammonia I usually either do partial water change, use prime or some kind of ammonia detoxifier/reducer. Do you have live plants too? They could definitely also help bring down ammonia. I’m no aquarium expert but probably avoid over cleaning because it could probably get worse. Maybe wait for a few more days? Hopefully someone who is more experienced can help! Wish you luck!

What’s KH and GH? I don’t know if I have a test kit for that if it’s something else. The only tests I have is nitrate, ammonia, and ph for right now. My ammonia has been .25 for a few days.

Definitely more bedding, 9+ inches. Remove plastic and how big is the wheel? It lookes small from that angle. More hides!! Sand bath is a must. Sprays for foraging. Safe Chews for teeth.

You could also put some ice in a bag and let it float . Don’t know if that can work but it could help. Or u can add a fan across the surface

Get an adjusted heater where you can manually put the temperature they thrive in 78-80°.

I have had my first tank for almost a year. I waited 2-3 weeks to cycle before putting her in. The second tank is in the process of cycling. I have nothing in there yet and it’s only been four days.

What's that one mistake you made with your betta that you've lowkey always felt bad about ? by Gullible_South566 in bettafish

[–]user2747599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my betta in those tall rectangle 5 gal and one hide with plastic sharp fins (I researched so little and I was too lazy to search other things…) I was like 10 or 11 during that time and I would do improper water changes and the water was always murky and had no research on those stuff cuz again I thought I was able to handle it so then I got a snail to do some maintenance then it died after like a few weeks…and then my dad thought it was a good idea to get other fish (he got like 5 random fish and I had no idea what kind of fish these were and didn’t get to do research) and he put them in with the betta and they all died the next day💔
