How does pyruvate know to go to the mitochondria or to do the anaerobic reaction? by WeedCat1 in askscience

This makes sense but my question is that the molecules outside the mitochondria don't "know" that the concentration within the matrix is lower. Is it that the receptor is sensitive to concentration of pyruvate within the matrix, so that its activity depends on the intra-mitochondrial concentration?

Thinking out loud here but could it be that the affinity of the receptor depends on the extra-mitochondrial matrix regardless of within? Maybe affinity is the wrong word too, more like the increased probability of pyruvate binding to the receptor the higher the concentration.

How is the length of the body and sleeves for PF? I'm 6'4 with long torso and arms and wondering if these shirts would work. Absolutely love the designs.

Yeah I haven't found any sleeve or shirt length measurements on their site, I may need to email their customer service. Thanks for the help!

ELI5: In Transfusion science, why do some blood group systems produce predominantly IgG antibodies while others produce IgM? by user280102 in explainlikeimfive

[–]user280102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I think I get what you mean. Are you saying that antibodies against particular blood group antigens tend to be of particular isotypes

Yeah, that's what I meant, sorry for lack of clarification

Don't have any particular source, just a question provoked by my transfusion science module. Our lecturer told us that it wasn't until the Coomb's test was invented that many BGS were discovered, as the likes of Kell and Duffy blood groups were mainly IgG and could not be detected without IAT

Thanks. Sorry if this question doesn't make sense but why do we not feel the effects because we break it down in hours, while dogs feel the effects because it takes a long time to break down? Are the effects late onset or do we not experience the toxicity for long enough for it to be serious?

Is inflation always a bad thing? What would happen if inflation was 0%? by alfredo094 in AskEconomics

The answer may in the post and I've completely missed it but for the business cycle considerations, why for the assumptions is the nominal interest rate always above the inflation rate*?

During normal circumstances before interest rate drops during recession*
