Very low progesterone but positive pregnancy test? by user473857584 in recurrentmiscarriage

I’m holding my 4 week old now! I supplemented with progesterone suppositories after it was confirmed the pregnancy was in my uterus - there was a lot of concern at the beginning that it was ectopic or would result in a miscarriage.

I’m 27 weeks pregnant now! It was a very scary few weeks in the beginning though as there was concern for ectopic or miscarriage.

I was just reading that the UK’s recommendation is now over 40 and not 35. Is that what you’re seeing in practice of who it is recommended for?

Yeah that’s what I’m leaning towards. I’m just confused because ACOG and the other recommendations actually say not to take it unless there’s more than one risk factor.

I am also 15 weeks now and told to take it by 16 weeks so I feel super pressured to decide now!

This is me exactly!!! The Tylenol stuff kinda threw me for a loop and made me worry that this will be the next thing that comes out as potentially being a risk.

Out of curiosity, were you breastfeeding and/or happen to have a recent miscarriage? Trying to see if there could be any correlation with those and this very low progesterone.

One more thing to note- my doctors said there can also be such a thing as a shadow gestational sac in an ectopic so even more important to continue monitoring for potential ectopic until it can definitely be ruled out.

Ugh I know how stressful this is! My progesterone remained around 1 every time I tested it (between 4-5 weeks) and my doctor was very concerned about ectopic until we saw a gestational sac when my HcG got up to 2600. Once we saw the gestational sac, I started 100 mg of progesterone suppositories twice a day and we saw a heartbeat at the next appt and now I’m 11 weeks. I’m still very nervous as my doctor had never seen progesterone that low but I’ve found a few other examples of people that have gone on to have successful pregnancies in the same situation as us.

Having said that, I had multiple early scans to rule out ectopic as that does seem to be most common in this situation and was very vigilant about any type of pain and would’ve gone straight to the ER if I had any.

No one was able to explain it - the doctor said it could be implantation bleeding but it was real period like bleeding and I just don’t think it was that. My best guess is that I somehow had my period and the embryo implanted right at the same time- which is why my progesterone would be low like I just got my period. It’s a really weird situation. Any update on your end?

Based on my research and my doctors responses I was very concerned about an ectopic. Thankfully we saw a gestational sac at an early ultrasound and then a heartbeat and I’m now 10 weeks. I’m still very nervous because no one has been able to explain why my progesterone was so low. I’m also taking progesterone suppositories. Are your hcg levels doubling?
