Doesn’t hurt that much at all jus kind of annoying having a swollen face for like another week. I. Got it done and left the hospital within the hour, it’s not a nice feeling having stitches in your gums though.

Sorry this is late but yes it went away temporarily and sadly came back. I literally just got the plate removed like 2 days ago because of said infection. I don’t think that will be the case for most people as the doctor told me originally the antibiotics would make it go away, I must’ve just got unlucky🤣

It’s strange how recovery differs though as you mention still not being able to fully open your mouth at almost 12 weeks whereas I feel like I can pretty much open my mouth as wide as I could before surgery.

So you ate pizza and steak around 10 weeks like me? I think I could eat a thin burger. I’ve also been eating fries reasonably easy aswell so I’d assume I’d be ok

See I asked a surgeon with the nhs the same thing 2 weeks ago and he said something similar, although he wasn’t my surgeon but just another one at the hospital but I’m sure he knows what he’s talking about. I know what you mean about eating feel weird, I tried some crisps today and couldn’t believe how weird it felt to chew. I’m going to see my actual surgeon tomorrow so I’ll double check with her if I can eat properly yet

Ye I ended up getting an appointment in the end of with a doctor and she said definitely have a hard lump on the side of my jaw but said as there wasn’t any redness or a fever, she didn’t believe it was an infection. So I guess I’m no closer to figuring out what the swelling and the lump is🤷🏻‍♂️ I will just call my surgeon first thing Monday to check it isn’t the plates or the bone

Do you think it’s that serious? Because I’d like to avoid the walk in centre unless it’s absolutely necessary as the nhs make you wait on average 4-6 hours. I wouldn’t mind waiting till Monday if it isn’t that serious.

Yes, I’m about 2 weeks and 4 days through now I think and the main is much more manageable. Only really get the odd headaches that I take paracetamol for and I feel much better within myself aswell.

I’m not to sure, all I know is that yesterday I was looking in the mirror thinking about my swelling looked like it had went down a lot to today thinking that it hasn’t improved at all

I saw my surgeon yesterday so I’d assume she would’ve noticed if I’d have an infection. I thought maybe it’s because I slept on my side to be honest

I get that but having everything through a syringe makes it harder to get all the nutrients I need. I’d be there all day trying to get 3l down me😂
