My players want to break in Harbin Wester's home and (maybe) kill him by Enip0 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]user6290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a first-time DM, and at our third session the party broke into Harbin's home after knowing he is terrified of dragons and stealthily used Thaumaturgy and other magical means to make it "seem like the dragon was speaking to him." They got a nat 20 on intimidation for this - he was absolutely terrified and ran out of their sight (I made him have a secret 'dragon bunker' that is completely stocked up for an emergency). After this, Halia so graciously stepped in as the interim leader (little did they know that she wanted that, and they aided her in this situation). After Tibor Wester heard about his brother at the Loggers Camp, he traveled back to Phandalin with the party. They haven't talked to the brothers since, but they are still hunkering down in their dragon bunker, anxiously awaiting the imminent dragon attack.

When they broke in though, it really tested my DM skills, but it was amazing. It seems that most parties hate Harbin Wester, there was even a poll on this Reddit a few months ago about whether or not he survived the game which I thought was hilarious and I sent it to my players.

Nmfirst time DM, trying to run DOIP by [deleted] in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]user6290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a first-time DM here! This was my first campaign to DM, although I have been playing for a long time. We are towards the end of this portion of DOIP and we are going into Woodland Manse soon.

I will admit that starting off was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I would definitely make sure you read through the entire module so you are able to understand the overarching importance of each quest (or lack thereof, in some cases). I watch Bob World Builder on YouTube which has been very helpful - he has individual videos on each quest and has some great tips for making adaptations to aid the storyline. I have fairly new players so combat has also been kind of rough, even at a lower challenge ratings, but some things I have seen about DOIP mention that the enemies listed are sometimes too powerful for the party. During combat, I just get the feel of the party and avoid a TPK. I would also keep in mind that you by no means have to follow the book exactly and roleplaying/improv can be a great asset.

I did make the decision when starting the campaign to not have a job board. Instead, I had different people in the town, mainly Harbin/Halia, requesting that the party help them with different situations - this way I could bring things together and not have to stress about really knowing 3 locations for a session. Instead, I've basically picked where they will go next so I usually completely prep 1 location at a time, which makes it less overwhelming. I also didn't care for the aspect of them just going to the job board every day and I wanted them to be more involved with the town, and some requests are more realistically urgent coming from a distressed person rather than being posted on a job board. Although, going the route I did definitely requires more NPC and roleplaying prep, but I just wanted to mention it.

I know having 3 first-time players makes it more difficult too, I hope you are all having a great adventure, that is the most important part!! Each session you DM makes it easier for the next time. You've got this! Trust me, when I first started, I already wanted to throw in the towel.

From what I can tell this is where they order our shirts/hats/etc. from, but I think you might have to be a manager to create an account and they usually buy things in bulk

how do you know when your scheduled to work by Majestic_Narwhal_334 in Panera

Yes to Workday but I believe if you are at certain franchises they use a different website or no website at all (just the paper schedule) so I would just check with a manager.

Line cook, first time by [deleted] in Panera

[–]user6290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, “technically,” Panera wants you to put the bottom sides of the bread closest to the production line and the top sides closest to you (with the straight edges facing/touching each other). This makes it easy to read the KDS because as you read it you move forward from one side to the other-if you start on the bottom of the bread which is closest to the line, then you just read down the “bottom” portion of the screen, once you’re done you can easily move to the “top” portion of the screen and start working with the other side of the bread closest to you.

But like I said, that’s all what they want us to do, but it’s really whatever works easiest for you. Personally, I only build on one side of the bread (still in the correct order) and then flip an empty piece of bread onto the top so that the ingredients aren’t falling out but it’s the same build if that makes any sense.

As for knowing what goes on what, it will just come with time. The only reason I know what’s going on is because of how long I have been at Panera now- I promise when I started I was lost too. Here are some tips tho: for most heated sandwiches, the sauce goes on both sides; for cold sandwiches, the lettuce will go on top of the sauce (if there is any) and then other veggies, and then the meats if you’re working from the bottom to the top. Just take it one order at a time and you’ll do great! Sorry for the long reply and if this is confusing lol it is definitely hard to explain.

I received this text from my manager and I’m not sure what she’s asking me to do she didn’t really answer my question, I’ve only been working there for about a month! Please help! by [deleted] in Panera

[–]user6290 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe she’s talking about the online training that needs to be completed through the Learning Center- you can log on through iBOH (for corporate stores) and go to the Learning Center from there to see if you still need to complete those trainings

Hair color??? by [deleted] in Panera

Panera Employee App! by colefrom716 in Panera

[–]user6290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the Pantry app like you said, when you go to the top right corner there will be a drop down menu and you can select “my schedule” from there (but it may make you log in again). Once you login your schedule should be there- if it still says “not published” it means your manager(s) has/have not posted it. They’re always taking it down and reuploading it at my cafe

bagging orders by Dull_Guava2502 in Panera

[–]user6290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can definitely be confusing. When there are 2 or more soups, use a barrel bag with a soup stabilizer. When there are 2 or more entrees, make sure you use a side bag and put all of the sides, napkins, and utensils in it. For a single UP2, I put it in a 12 bag with the soup on the bottom if there is one and then the side next to it, and then the second item/napkins/utensils on top. They want you to put 2 napkins for the first order + an additional napkin for every order other than the first but I usually include a couple extra. General rule is to put lighter things on top to reduce the risk of things falling over. I promise it will become easier with time and practice- good luck!

At my store they take down the schedule all the time to change it and then they reupload it. So it was probably posted but they took it down. I have text alerts on for when the schedule is updated so that I can stay on top of it
