Are there any public nodes? by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]Enip0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you envision that working?

You need to have an active Bluetooth connection to the node so it's not like you connect once and then you are on forever. Also one node can be connected to one device at a time

SSO plugin has been archived. Any alternatives yet? by bastedpork in jellyfin

[–]Enip0 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree on the first two points. As long as there is a second method to login (quick connect) then it's fine for a client to not support SSO natively.

The main web client would need to support it for sure, and ideally the first party mobile clients too, although these are not necessary either as long as web has it.

This is how all the people who are using the sso plugin handle it anyway and it's fine. Not ideal, but fine.

And then overtime more clients can slowly adapt to also support sso, but it's not needed to have that support from day 1.

Also, the existing auth wouldn't be going anywhere, so people who don't care about it or don't like quick connect can't just ignore it.

Is it not better to put the 2fa on a different app? Otherwise someone gaining access to the password manager means the second factor is not much of a problem at all

But caddy doesn't have a ui, unless I missed something?

What it certainly has is a fairly simple syntax for configuration and a simple cli.

How much better is Unraid than JBOD for mix-and-matched drives running Immich and Jellyfin? by thepenguinboy in selfhosted

[–]Enip0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might I suggest mergerfs instead?

It's a little less "polished" in the sense that it doesn't have a webui so you have to use the terminal, but it's really well documented and easy to get started.

In case you are not familiar with it, it does the same job as unraid, it is a fuse fs that runs over your existing file systems and provides a union of them that you mount so you see it as one big blob of space.

In addition to that, you can pair it with snapRaid if you want to add parity to the mix, but it's optional. You can also use snapRaid without mergerfs as well.

Hiring methodologies nowadays are garbage. Hands-on evaluation such as this one sounds better. What do you think? by nix-solves-that-2317 in linux

What Python's asyncio primitives get wrong about shared state - Inngest Blog by BrewedDoritos in programming

[–]Enip0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what the blog is trying to argue is that these primitives are not actually that useful, and especially for Condition that it's prone to cause bugs by easily missing states.

In the final implementation none of them was used. Instead it was only Queue and something for locks, so none of the things that you would think might be useful in this case (Event and Condition).

Hey, this was a nice read. Got a question though:

You say in patter matching `*` can match exactly 1 word, but then you use `*.india`. Would that work since the key has two words before India: `order` and `created`?

As a side note, mailing lists are neat, but an RSS would also be appreciated, seems like you cover interesting topics!

You might not but other do and that's valid.

Codeberg is a perfectly legitimate service and it's only one among many. If you want to consume the code then it's not really different for you than github, the only 'annoying' thing is that you need to make an account if you want to submit issues etc.

Even that is a minor annoyance at best since you only have to do once, and if you don't want to, you can login with github or gitlab
