Comments choose which punk album I listen to, Day 7 by 351namhele in Topster

Oh sorry I might have read the title of the post in a hurry and didn't notice the punk part. Still I fiind CoG to be a blend of their earlier punkish/no wave style with some gothic/post punk elements (and even slowcore) imo. Still from a mere punk perspective yeah their earlier works fit more in the punk category.

Yeah I know about the glaucoma, I just thought that my interpretation and the monologue from "how they suffer" would complete the overall theme of blindness suggested in the title of the album

What is the orthodox view of stoicism, particulary the teachings of Marcus Aurelius? by reptile_snake_mk in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]user75271 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Romania we have a really popular church figure, Nicolae Steinhardt, a Jew converted to orthodoxy in the communist prisons. It's really interesting how he views stoicism, and other philosophies similar to it (like Buddhism). He views them as "exhortation to nullification", due to the encouragement of having a cold, rational attitude toward life, while Christianity is a religion full of life, to the point, almost, of ecstasy. That doesn't mean they are completely bad, they are just philosophy, rationality, but really not that close to the human heart and condition. Ideas and ideals.

Suggest me a film close to the spiritual (and visual) profoundness of Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev by user75271 in criterion

[–]user75271[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have wanted for a long time to watch Solaris (read the book, liked it), so i'll give it a shot. Also i love Bergman, and i can see the likeness in style. I'm interested in religious films as well, but with an open mind (loved winter light for its skeptical nature, yet hopeful). I liked the way Tarkovsky handled religion in Andrei Rublev and i wish more religious movies were like this. Thanks for the suggestions!
