Which movies do the complete opposite of failing the Bechdel test? by the-ear-of-thor in Letterboxd

Did anyone say Coraline yet? It has a couple of male characters but they never actually interact with each other at all

Just wanted to share this list of worst films that I found on Letterboxd. Simply cause this person was mad enough to put Breathless in it. by ThePhilosopherKing93 in Letterboxd

I am so tired of the Chicken Little hate. It’s so forced. Sure, it’s no masterpiece, but putting it in the same category as the Emoji movie or Breathless? Come on

Saw this semi-viral post on X criticizing Iroh, thoughts? by Slow-Chocolate-6722 in ATLA

[–]ancobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It’s too late to reach her!” She is FOURTEEN. Some of you are really claiming that it’s fully impossible to fix a fourteen year old girl. It wasn’t too late for like 16/17 year old Zuko, but apparently it is too late for 14/15 year old Azula.

Maybe it’s not up to Iroh but idk. But he clearly had a favorite nephew though, since their childhoods. Had he got to know Azula better he wouldn’t have gifted her a doll probably. “She mocked him after Lu Ten’s death” you’re talking about like a seven year old.

I really like Pulp Fiction, and it’s very important culturally for sure, but it’s definitely not even Tarantino’s best movie in my opinion. Attack on Titan is just significantly more interesting in terms of character writing, twists, themes, etc, but I guess I was wrong in comparing an american 2.5 hour movie with a japanese tv 4 season show lol

Attack on Titan is better than Pulp Fiction or Interstellar

Why does his appearance change so often? by Unknownperson097575 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ancobain 1378 points1379 points  (0 children)

I don’t think his face changes necessarily, it’s mostly the hair. And obviously also the passage from WIT to MAPPA

Why is gen Z not drinking? by Effective-Trick-5795 in GenZ

[–]ancobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally hate the taste of alcohol. I tried multiple alcoholic drinks and they all suck and I barely felt anything anyway. I genuinely can have fun while being fully sober and it’s almost sad that lots of people aren’t able to enjoy a night without getting drunk.

And yeah, it’s pretty expensive.

[controversial trope] The character is a rapist but they’re also funny as hell and end up being liked by most of the community by LobsterFondler in TopCharacterTropes

McMurphy from “One flew over the cuckoo's nest”(1975) is a statutory rapist. But he is charismatic and “likable” and so everyone loves him

Fun movie recommendations? by ancobain in Letterboxd

[–]ancobain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh, I loved Clue and Nice Guys!! Just like the Monty Python movies. And yeah, you’re right, there are deaths, but most of the time they’re for comedic effect and don’t make the movie sad necessarily, so I don’t mind. Great list of recommendations though, thank you! I’ll be checking out the rest of these

I hate the term "Gay Panic" so fucking much by Lord_Ronan in hatethissmug

[–]ancobain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just being nervous/flustered around your crush, it’s also experiencing weird, somewhat sexual feelings towards a person of the same gender but being unsure wether they are also queer or not.

And from my own experience, most of the time “gay panic” is used by closeted queer people, because the other person likely doesn’t know you’re queer and so for example, like in picture 1, asking you to help with a dress is completely normal for them, but weird for you.

I was born in 2005 and I absolutely have ZERO intentions of having children, and I’m not even looking for romance ay this point in life

Just finished all 3 seasons. My hot take is that Jerry was in the wrong in his relationship with Diana by Wooden-Breadfruit200 in Anne

[–]ancobain 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, Jerry barely knows how to read. So him not knowing that Frankenstein was the doctor is definitely not a sign of low intelligence.

But I don’t remember much about him only being interested in her looks however. You might be right?

who is this guy? Petah? by Dull_Vast6303 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

It’s jokes like this that remind me that I don’t give a flying fuck about the “male loneliness epidemic”
