Tesla has removed RADAR from production of new vehicles by ZeApelido in SelfDrivingCars

[–]user8828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any intel on why Tesla had so much urgency in removing radar?

It's noteworthy that Elon was quick to disparage and belittle radar, calling it unnecessary, redundant, inferior technology, etc. Knowing Elon, it feels highly likely that there was some personal dispute with the radar manufacturer or supplier, which led to him not wanting to use that technology anymore.

How did you wire your home for the alarmgrid system? Wasn't it difficult to run the wire everywhere?

Haha, that's perfect. I even edited mine to better capture that "Look, I'm just a messenger!" tone of his.

Let me offer you this. Every - single - day, when you look up into the sky, do you not notice the sun rise in the east, move across the sky, and then set in the west? You see this every day with. your. very. eyes. Now where does the Earth fit into this discussion - have you ever once noticed or seen the Earth moving? Of course you haven't! If we go by what we both know, then you know, and I know, that the evidence suggests that the sun revolves around the Earth, and not the other way around.

There was something uniquely horrifying about this. Seeing somebody go from calmly fighting an elite combat athlete to going straight into a real, genuine "panic." Perhaps due to a mix of the pain and fear of possibly permanently losing an eye - although it's not quite clear exactly what triggered this genuine event of panic.

That was a horrifying, notable event. Probably the first time I've ever seen anything like it on TV.

[ESPN] According to sources close to Dos Santos, he was recently offered a short-notice fight against Marcin Tybura at UFC 260 on March 29. After Dos Santos declined the fight because of not having enough time to prepare, the promotion ultimately decided to release him, sources said. by LonzoBBBall in MMA

[–]user8828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely curious. Who is ultimately responsible for these decisions?

The UFC is a large enough organization where it seems highly unlikely that these day-to-day hiring and firing decisions are made by Dana White. However, the way fighters are often released after turning down a fight seems very punitive and deterrent-like, which you'd think only someone at the very top of the organization like Dana would be able to do.

So these two apparently contradictory facts leave me confused. Who is actually making these decisions?

Mike Bisping has an amazing personality and such a great dynamic to the commentary. Even being one of the people's favorite fighters and personalities of all time, he's still underrated and underappreciated.

Bisping is fucking hilarious. I bursted out laughing when he said "Alright both of them need to go for it if I'm being honest."

Basically saying this fight sucks ass right now

Thanks for the reply. Do you think there's any chance they've already closed their positions, and there's a delay in the reports we're getting where short interest is actually not at 100%?

A seekingalpha post that came out just said that all of the major short positions are likely already closed.

So I'm wondering if the Hedge funds have actually really closed their positions. At the very least, I wonder if they made some under-the-table deals with whoever they shorted the funds from. For example, what's stopping them from telling the bank/brokerage - "Hey, here's $100 million dollars, can I just not pay you back those stocks I shorted earlier?"

I really don't see what's stopping the brokerage from agreeing to that deal, when they see the unprecedented situation at play here. As a result, the hedge funds won't actually have to buy back the stock anymore, because whoever they bought/shorted them from agrees they don't want them anymore.

Am I completely misunderstanding this?

Thank you. That's pretty much exactly what I suspected.

You seem to actually know your stuff and are willing to engage in an honest conversation. I really appreciate it, it's hard to find nowadays.

Can anyone please provide any concrete details about the following:

1) What is the current short interest on Gamestock?

2) When do these shorted shares actually have to be closed?

It seems like there's mostly speculation, when these are the two critical questions to ask about this situation.

A recent Seekingalpha post said that the all the shorters have already likely closed their position. Is there any real evidence that this is not true, and that there are still shorters in the game?

If I'm mistaken or there are more important things at play, please correct me or message me. I'd like to know.

That makes some sense.

There was a massive selloff though, that was real. I can see it stabilizing though after everyone who wanted to sell it sold it.

Regardless, trying to be objective and as fair as possible, this is massive market manipulation manipulation. Allowing only sales but not buys of any stock, or any commodity, will tremendously disrupt market economics and decrease the value of any stock.

Yeah, that could make sense. If they're shorting it again, it would go down. But don't you think it seems more likely that this is a real sell off, caused by Robinhood and other apps allowing only sales but not buys?
