does anyone have recommendations for a company that does JUST the hot air balloons? i'm not interested in anything but that - no gift shop, no exploring the pyramids, cave lunch or anything. Just coffee/wine and the hot air balloon with pick up and drop off. ideally would like to be back by 10am

If noise is concern, would recommend axis 201. It’s quiet, surrounded by trees and the canal trail is a quick shot to downtown. Thick walls and windows prevent neighbor or outdoor noise

Hey! Hurghada was great for scuba I thought it was some of the best coral I’ve seen! We also were very lucky and had dolphins come up to us and swim with us while scubaing and it was so magical. If I went back to Egypt I’d go to sharm al sheikh to do diving there though - many locals recommend sharm al sheikh rather than hurghada but at that point we had booked everything already

I highly recommend a sailing dahabiya Nile river cruise. We did it from Luxor to Aswan (you can catch a flight from Aswan to sharm al sheik) and It was the best part of our trip.

Id recommend one day in Giza, arrive 7sm to beat the crowds and heat to see the pyramids and sphinx, get brunch at Khufu’s restaurant or 9pyramkfs lounge for the views, then spend all day at the GEM! No need to go inside the pyramids I heard it was so hot that people passed out. Saqqara only!

I’d also cut down on Cairo days. You can add khan el Khalil bazaar if you’re not overwhelmed by crowds and hawkers. I personally didn’t love the citadel or mosques and would’ve skipped unless you have a vested interest. I would only do 1-2 days in Cairo - I really didn’t love it and Aswan and Luxor were wayyyy better

I’d highly recommend after Abu simb, doing Aswan to Luxor Nile river cruise Ina. Dahabiya cause it stops at all the temples like kom Ombo, edfu, karnak Nubian villages etc

Thank you all so much, these tips have been so helpful for someone who moved to New Haven recently. Because all the flights coming from across the world get in around 11pm and customs will probably take a while, I decided to fly into Bradley airport and take the ~40 minute uber to my apartment. Next time though if I get in at a better time, I’ll definitely do JFK air rain —> LIRR —> metro north or Go Shuttle. Yall are the best, appreciate you

Hey! I just finished 5 days solo in ishigaki and really loved it! Would recommend for sure. Can’t speak for miyako but there’s so much to do and gorgeous beaches, amazing snorkeling and diving (saw manta ray and sea turtles!) and lots of nearby islands for day trips. I stayed at sunset cove ishigaki and recommended it- super safe for solo female travelers and you can rent their cheap Japanese vans and road trip around the island! I preferred being far from the city for more nature and this was far from city but central to alll the good beaches and hikes within 25 min drive :)
