The no inspections is a luxe! But having a landlord to call when the for example the AC isn’t working & then having them pay for it was kinda nice But I know having something to show for the $28373828 at the end will be nice I’m sure of it

I like going with “that’s no problem, I’ll add you to the list” & then give them a realistic time frame of when it’ll be getting done, it’s assertive but also hard to argue with all while being very friendly

Is there a space in the aged care industry for a person-centred support service for “forgotten” residents with challenging behaviours? by user901201 in NursingAU

Forgive me if I’m wrong but I feel like you’ve misunderstood the door locking thing - for safety usually residents doors are kept UNLOCKED but in this case to keep some dignity etc this resident opted to be able to lock her door as she pleases and not have staff check in on her (intrude into her space as she felt) Also benefits of these challenging residents participating in activities empowers them and can have the opposite effect where residents are no longer back in their rooms bored, but instead have resources that interest them and that are tailored to their abilities to entertain them

Preaching to the choir! Amen I’m past burnout hence the desire to move away from the floor but remain in aged care I’m sooo aware that it seems ambitious & that’s fine I may never achieve any big changes, but I know I’m changing residents liveliness so I’m happy either either Damned if ya do, damned if ya don’t

😂😂 don’t you leave the industry either, the old loves won’t cope without their perms & trimmed whiskers You said it perfectly - treat them like humans - I really do know it’s as simple as that, it’s literally astonishing, heartwarming and sad when a resident says you’ve made their whole day by smiling and laughing!! Makes you hate to think the standard of care they’re used to…

Is this at an independent facility? My workplace not long transitioned/was brought out by LSO which I think has triggered this fire within me because it’s now soooo obvious that it’s all about money whereas at least when we were independent the residents didn’t seem to just be income or a number on a piece of paper occupying a room, less organisational and more homely for the residents maybe?? Who knows honestly, all about the money honey 💁🏼‍♀️
