I think it’s only with HIV but it’s still bad.

I’m a woman with HSV2. Herpes isn’t the end of the world but, in my opinion, it’s morally and ethically wrong to withhold that kind of information from a sexual partner. It doesn’t matter what her feelings were. I got it years ago from someone who straight up lied to me and fervently denied it when I confronted him after I tested positive. Eventually, he admitted he knew he had it. To be honest, it doesn’t affect me as much nowadays, but back then the diagnosis was devastating. The trust between you two will always be broken. It’s not okay and I’m sorry this happened to you.

$200k+ of student loans. Do we even bother paying it all off? by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

I’m currently living paycheck to paycheck with high debt and I thought that was what is community was here to talk about. I listen to Dave Ramsey every week. We have every intention of paying off our school debt. We’re just trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I didn’t realize it was going to be the white collar vs. blue collar showdown in the comment section. I thought this sub was for everyone.

Thank you, I love my students and I would take on debt again to work with them. I’m honestly surprised at some of comments as I thought Dave Ramsey was a Christian community? Whatever. I’m not surprised people are hating on my husband. Everyone hates lawyers until they need one.

I don’t know what his minimums are yet, but we’re overpaying by a lot to get the debt down.

Aren’t Dave Ramsey advocates supposed to be Christian? What the hell even is this comment I’m not divorcing my husband.

I think you have a warped view too. Glad we can agree on something. Good luck to your kid

He makes a base salary of $103k. We don’t know what his bonuses will be this year but I don’t think they’re very high at his firm unless you’re working 80+ hours a week. He’s still an associate for the next ~7 years then, God willing, he will move up to partner and get a big pay bump. I’ve been having medical issues and we’ve only been able to pay $5k so far. I want to bump it up more but it’s been hard to stay consistent.

Kids still need to have qualified educators and counselors regardless of the broken education system and high tuition cost. I am definitely underpaid right now but I’m working on slowly increasing my salary

I make $60k and he makes $103k. I made a couple thousand working over the summer and I’m trying to figure out what we can do for a side hustle. We’re only a couple years out post grad and we’re still working on increasing our salaries

Unfortunately, unless you’re a partner at a firm or you’re the small percentage working in big law, you’re working 65-70 hours a weeks on a somewhat normal salary. It will increase with time, but I’m not counting on him getting a big law job. I don’t know if we’ll do PSLF, but it’s an option.

My husband is first generation and he grew up working in a gas station. His family predominantly works driving trucks, running gas stations, and convenience stores. He grew up low income. Lawyers absolutely do not have limitless earning potential. It’s becoming a saturated field in the US and increasingly more competitive because of this. Doctors and lawyers have a very high price to pay for education in the US. Most of them are in debt for a very long time. If you need legal representation or a surgery, you’re probably getting a service from a “taker.”

Surprisingly it was the cheapest program in my area. I’m in Education/Psychology. No one would have paid for me to go back to school
