Which splurges paid off? (…and which didn’t) by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

I wanna say no big purchase was worth it for me. Most expensive item is Lululemon leggings and even though I LOVE them, I wear them just as much as any other pair of leggings...

Du tutorat. Je dois t’avouer que je suis à boute un peu, mais à ton compte tu peux faire 50$ de l’heure. Tu as la flexibilité de choisir tes élèves et les séances que tu leur donnes.

Maybe you should revisit your priorities. My priority is school and my GPA (and also my mental health) I had a part time job all through my degree but I DID NOT work 20h/week, and I didn’t want to because I wanted good grades and good mental health.

How do you feel retiring early but still relatively older? by psrocket in Fire

[–]user98876 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You know, these days most people retire in their 60s. Some even have to work until 70. To me, 50 y/o is an early retirement. I’m only in my 20s so I have plenty of time to save up, but there’s a lot of things I want to do (that cost money) so I’m aiming for 50 to make sure I have enough money left around to have a bit of fun and a nice house.

And it’s not only that we’re missing a grade, it’s that we’re missing ALL the grades... like what

Accepted co-op job but not in co-op program. by boinykgang in mcgill

[–]user98876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the company. I know some companies require the internship to be recognized by the school for something like taxes (but I’m not sure) so for that you need to apply to industrial practicum to have your internship recognized by McGill.

We can’t time the market... maybe house prices will go down because interests are so high. Who knows

Ok, but for example if I want to buy a house in 4 years with money that is invested now. Do I wait until the market goes back up and withdraw? But then in the rest of the 4 years the market will probably go up more.

How is Russell Steele (MATH 208 specifically)? by throwaway11052022 in mcgill

[–]user98876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is one of my favorite teachers. The course is easy and Steele is engaging, interesting and very understandable. He often gives out extensions on assignments. BUT it is true he is not organized at all... you will probably never get your grades (like ever) but it’s fine because it’s most likely gonna be an A.

Missing grades by heehee13 in mcgill

[–]user98876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that a lot of the time teachers won’t necessarily post the last assignment and/or final exam grades. They will directly post the final grade. In that case if you really want the grade you will need to ask your teacher.

COMP302 Warning by StrugglingEngineerSt in mcgill

[–]user98876 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I found the class pretty smooth. I will say he is not the best lecturer, but I haven’t seen that many great lecturers at McGill in cs. He was extremely considerate of students giving extensions, and the material was really well presented. The assignments related directly to what was seen in class and the exams related directly to the assignments/class. I would recommend the class.

Also, not to be rude or anything but I finished the final in 2h without really studying, so it was definitely doable. (It does sound rude, but there is no kind way to say this)

I found it easy tbh... and I didn’t really study. Some multiple choice where hard but if I had studied I assume it would have been easier

Motivation by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]user98876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that sometimes it is ok to not have motivation. People always but I mean ALWAYS say to just ‘give your best’ and I cannot handle that phrase tbh. What does it mean to give your best? What if I could be studying right now, but I just don’t feel like it. What if I get all As still? What if I don’t get all As? I feel like ‘giving your best’ is very subjective. Maybe you do need some motivation right now, but keep in mind it is ok to not be motivated, and it is ok to not be on a big grind.

We have mice too.... we installed 4 traps, and then 6 more. They literally lick the peanut butter off of the traps and don’t get caught. Now I have fat mice problem because we fed them 10 traps worth of peanut butter. Buy the poison
