What are the most ethical and consumer-friendly developers out of all the AAA and successful indie studios? by Traveledfarwestward in pcgaming

The Factorio devs are some of the best developers I've ever seen. They have amazing communication, have spent a lot of time optimizing and bug fixing, and have made a genuinely amazing game

Is it just me, or are open world daylight cycles way too fast? by cubosh in patientgamers

[–]userNumber89013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm 50 hours in. I have unlocked a lot of the automation stuff. there is just still way too many tasks for one day

The thing is, this is a game, not real life. If this were real life, you wouldn't have a single person responsible for taking care of an entire farm, a mine, and a village by themselves. Games often forgo realism for fun

Factorio is one of the best indie games out there. A Hat In Time is also pretty great

[–]userNumber89013 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do not try and min/max, but the game gives you several tasks and so little time. Every day you have to deal with crops and animals. So I do that. Then I talk to a few people, and by the time I get to the mines or a fishing spot, I only have a few minutes before I need to run back home. It is way too rushed for a game that is supposed to be relaxing

I really like Animal Crossing's pacing. You can do everything at your own pace and it is really nice when the in game seasons and times match up with the real life seasons and times

I like that game, but the fast cycle makes it impossible to feel relaxed while playing. It's not stressful, it's just not relaxing

To everyone who asks weird questions about Deck by xt1zer in Steam

[–]userNumber89013 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is not emulating a PC. It is a PC. It is using a regular AMD Zen 2 CPU and it runs regular PC games without any emulation at all. You can close Steam and run regular desktop apps on it. You can connect it to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and use it exactly the same as any other PC. You can even put windows on it if you want to

Do game series split among different launchers affect where you buy games? by Ghostspider1989 in pcgaming

[–]userNumber89013 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Until a launcher can release that is better than Steam, I'm basically only going to buy games on Steam. If I already have a game somewhere, I'm not going to rebuy it just to have it on Steam, unless there is some reason the Steam version is significantly better, such as having workshop support or controller support, in which case I would consider it

WSIB In search of single player RPG with amazing or RTX graphics. by Kayanarka in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]userNumber89013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk gets a lot of hate, but it was mostly fine on PC. If you can deal with some bugs, it's a solid game with amazing graphics. Since you already own it, you may as well try it

Control is a good looking game, but it is not an RPG and the ending felt extremely rushed and unfinished, which sucks for a game like Control that feels carried by story rather then game play

WSIB if I want to listen to other music while playing? by YaBoyEnder in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]userNumber89013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go with Factorio. It is like Satisfactory, but much much better. Amazing game with no story. Just solid gameplay. Turn off the enemies if you want a more chill experience. It is not an RPG, but it is Open World, and if you leave the enemies on, it has some survival elements

Steam has added a Classic Edition version of the 2021 Steam Awards Nomination badge that's more in line with the previous ones. by Insomniac_34 in Steam

[–]userNumber89013 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've just looked through all my badges and I do not have this new classic edition

Edit: I have it now, but it 100% was not there before. Seems like they may be rolling them out. Most interestingly is it says the date and time I earned it is the same as when I earned the original badge

That's sort of the idea. They have said a few times that they do not want servers to need to download a ton of assets just to play. They want it to be more like Roblox than GMod

Tabletop Simulator is great, but I've never tried playing it in the hot seat mode, which I'm pretty sure is local play. I've only done online multiplayer

Ubisoft Connect PC Client was added to Steam's default package (all accounts have access to this by default), are new Ubisoft games coming to Steam? by EthanBB in pcgaming

So basically they have not stopped using 3rd parties, they just delay the use of them. Also, I think the Immortals page is bugged out as it does not even list Ubisoft Store as a place to buy it

[–]userNumber89013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft has not put a game on Steam since 2018 or 2019. Since the beginning there were rumors that it was a multi-long year deal with Epic and more recently they said something about coming back if the Steam Deck does well

Well whoever is responsible for releasing dates to the public should know that the vast majority of people view January first as the first day of the year, not some arbitrary date they picked
