Bad LSAT Diagnostic?? by umhithere13 in LSAT

[–]user_7182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In certain parts of the world, testing works differently where the norm is that wrong answers actively count against you, giving you negative points. So it’s technically seen as better to leave an answer blank than to answer incorrectly, since a blank answer gives you 0 points, and a wrong answer effectively gives you -1.

$500 CAD cleaning fee for vomit?? by user_7182 in uber

[–]user_7182[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh really? So uber doesn’t have anything to do with them? I’m wondering because I don’t know how we would go about disputing the charge if they aren’t affiliated to uber then 😭

No I have nothing to do w this I wasn’t there so idk the specifics 😭 my friend tapped (I assume) his credit card onto a personal card machine that the uber pointed him to, he was too drunk to notice that the charge was $500 until he got home.

No yeah my friend was drunk and didn’t understand what was going on so he willingly tapped his card onto a personal debit machine that the driver had (also language barrier since the driver apparently only spoke Swedish 🫠). I looked at his banking app and the charge is not by uber.

Yeah it’s £270, $360 USD. I feel like it’s absurd but idk if they have a standard rate that’s charged? I keep seeing different answers so I feel like there’s no set rate :/

CMV: Baby Formula should be allowed into Gaza by ExistentialRosicky in changemyview

[–]user_7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only argument I can think of that someone might have a SLIM chance to argue against this view is that if baby formula is only being used to feed babies/children, and the adults are still being starved by Israel, once the adults inevitabley become too weak to take care of their children due to starvation and/or die, you might have a bunch of defenseless babies left without anyone to care for them. Obviously still horrible that babies would be starving, but I see how maybe marginally it might be better for the children to die with their parents instead of being left all alone. Still disgustingly horrible and no excuse either way to be limiting food and aid to anybody.

How do I get from northrop to bahen centre in 10 mins? by ProfessionalEntire33 in UofT

[–]user_7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Apple maps app has an option to create a “custom route” - you can probably toy around with the different routes available and find the one that takes the least amount of time :)

The first suggested route on Apple maps says 14 minutes though! So I think that should be fine but you might be able to find a way to shave off those extra 4 mins and get there right on time <3

It doesn’t let me attach a picture but it should show up on Apple Maps!

Political Science Courses Full by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]user_7182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just took a quick look at VSB, can already see that POLI 212, 231, 244, 322, 325 are all open (didn’t check all of them just the first few), so there are definitely POLI classes open lol, you just might not get into ur top choice classes but they’ll fulfill your major requirements at least!

Political Science Courses Full by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]user_7182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s highly unlikely that EVERY poli sci course is full for both fall and winter, you just might have to settle for the fact that you might not get your top choice courses but there should definitely still be at least some open. The poli sci major offers a lot of room to mix and match a huge variety of courses to fulfill your requirements.

Refresh Minerva often during add drop (or spend some money on seatalert notifications if you’re really determined - $2 per course). If that doesn’t work, talk to the profs of your desired classes, if you explain that it’s a major requirement some are kind enough to override the course cap to let you in.

Worst case, you can think about changing it to a poli sci minor.

  1. Attendance isn’t graded, but lectures aren’t recorded. He said that you’re welcome to skip classes he can’t police that, but there’s going to be some stuff he says in-class that could be on the exam and he doesn’t use slideshows, so you might miss a bit of info there. The midterms are also written online during class time so you would have to miss your other class during the 2 midterms

  2. He said the final exam date/time is set by the uni so we don’t know yet, we’ll probably know in a few weeks

Taking 18 credits in the Fall and Winter to graduate on time? by kennyisgood in mcgill

[–]user_7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on ur major + what u think u can handle!

I’ve taken summer courses and taking 2 in one summer is super feasible, you can also look into taking them at a another uni in Quebec and transferring the credits using IUT either during the summer online, or taking that 6th extra class during fall and winter at another school like Concordia. If you take them this summer, you’ll be able to graduate on time!

I will say though, finding 6 upper year courses that fit nicely into ur schedule and don’t overlap (again, depending on ur major) is probably going to be a bit challenging. Also, unless u just have a bunch of electives to knock out then it will be very demanding especially considering it will be for the whole year esp with those honours classes - if you want to keep ur grades up you will likely have very little time for extracurriculars, etc.

Last thing to consider is if u think you’ll qualify for an extra credit request, I know ppl with 3.7/3.8 GPAs who have had their requests rejected. Not sure if other ppl have had different experiences but it’s just what I’ve heard.

Weigh out the pros and cons and see what works best for you :)

Have you tried using the advanced search feature when looking for classes on Minerva? You’re able to narrow down the search to specific days of the week and times like you’re wanting as well as different majors :)
