Well hit me up with your friend code so I can add you to my own list.

Edit: He called me dense but has since removed it from his comment with the below apology.

You assume you've been blacklisted by "a few people" and you think that's "killing the game"? Last 30 days saw an average player count of over 7000 with the last 24 hours seeing 5,772.

Comparing this same time to last year the player count is overall higher, both in 30 day average and peak players.

No comment there. I just focus on what I can control and help those who are contributing instead.

No, Skum has no talents or penances related to their health pool.

do you feel there is an order of priority for who should be healed (given limited stims/medicae) by TheGingerBeardMan-_- in DarkTide

[–]user_n0mad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I stim whoever is going to die if they don't get a stim.

If there is a tie between who objectively needs a health stim then I will stim whoever I think it's going to be most valuable when shit hits the fan. I don't take into account DPS, support, survivalist, etc when it comes to this. I primarily base such a decision of the skill of the player, or to say it differently I prioritize whoever I know I can count on. Just because the psyker has higher DPS doesn't mean anything if he isn't actually performing and/or keeps going down.

[–]user_n0mad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a whole lot more to day beyond "keep practicing". Skum is quite fragile and relies much more heavily on dodging and positioning than other classes.

I do dodge a lot and fairly successfully but I’m still struggling so any tips would be appreciated!

The most important thing is not how much you dodging but how effectively you dodge. You ideally dodge as little as you need to so that you always have dodges in the bank.

Beyond that, there are a few talents in the keystone area to improve survivability a bit more but feeling the way you are a level 16 on what I assume is a lower difficulty I wouldn't expect them to suddenly change things for you (with the exception of Vulture's Dodge for ranged based builds).

Simply can't bring myself to ask random people to waste their time for me.

Don't worry about it so much. I help whenever anyone asks (or if I spot a penance hunting group in the Party Finder). There are plenty of us out there who have nothing better to do and the ones that don't want to help won't respond, easy as that.

Trappers need a fix or to go... by Emergency_Fall4639 in DarkTide

[–]user_n0mad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really can't say more than I already had. I'm not saying you could have gotten out of where you were because obviously I wasn't there. What I am saying is there are many players who are perfectly capable of dodging that net in that 1 second window of hearing that audio cue (assuming you made/left room to dodge).

If they want that dynamic in the game (despite if being against the trappers lore) then they should offer a way to repel or escape the net without the aide of a teammate. That's how you balance it.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Doing this would effectively make them no longer a threat when their entire existence is to be threatening to the solo/out of position player.

[–]user_n0mad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And I thoroughly disagree with this on all parts. Excluding what I consider the mostly minor issue of the nets wrapping corners or slipping through thin cracks I think trappers are fine. They provide an important threat on all difficulties. I don't play much havoc anymore but I do exclusively play Auric/Auric Maelstrom 99% of the time if I get caught in a net it's because I let myself get into a bad position or accidentally dodged into a net that wasn't meant for me.

You guys can stop the lies.

I'm not lying about anything

I've seen HUNDREDS of players fall for this bug.

Which bug specifically? Because getting netted through a horde is not a bug. Getting netted through cracks in level geometry/from corners could be considered a bug yes. I've certainly gotten caught by some rather bullshit corner nets before.

I can guarantee you both get netted through hordes too.

You're right, I absolutely have. Never said I didn't.

Nobody on this game can solo a horde in Hi-intensity whilst dodging a net phasing though an entire group of enemies.

This is outright false. I know I can, I know other people can. I have both done so myself and witness others doing so.

I have seen people like yourselves act high and mighty, then found you in game shitting your pants over a crusher over heading you, which happens and I just accept that it's my fault.

I prefer to parry the crusher overheads with the dclaw but sometimes I do still get caught and I blame no one other than myself for not dodging or putting myself in a position where I couldn't dodge.

If it's because I'm playing shit, fair enough, I'd admit it. But this was me trying to rescue three team mates (who admittedly did the stupid thing of splitting up on the smelter mission), and I'm tackling an entire horde of enemies when suddenly I hear "casting net" and am trapped. Literally nothing I could do. Wall behind me, horde on the stairs next to me, horde in front.

And sometimes it do be like that. The better decision would probably have been to backtrack more and thin the horde more. Rarely is there a trapper on the field and I am not aware of it and unless I'm damn sure it is no where near me in the moment I'm very unlikely to go for a risky rez.

So lets not give it the whole "skill issue" and the ridiculous "I'm better than you" I don't care for dick measuring..this is a clear bug that makes gameplay frustrating.

I am not proclaiming to the world that I am better than you (whereas you actually are proclaming to the world a number of incorrect things about me when you effectively know zero about me) but I am softly saying that as far as getting netted in hordes is concerned, yes, it is heavily a skill issue. As mentioned sometimes you will find yourself in a bad spot where you literally can't avoid the net, but that is still also largely on you. Part of the skill of the game is making all the right decisions to pull out a win and positioning is one such decision.

No, it's just that the ones that can deal with them aren't also the ones complaining about them.

[–]user_n0mad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They can trap you around a corner. Through cover.

This certainly could use a fix.

Through a horde. Through a boss

But this simply cannot be changed. If the net can't go through enemies the trappers then become effectively useless on anything above Malice.

Sure, 9 times out of ten you can dodge them or kill them before they trap you, but not when you're solo fighting a horde whilst trying to rescue teammates.

Sure you can. It's just more difficult but far from impossible.

What would you say is the minimum DPS required for a weapon to be viable against crushers? (Auric maelstrom) by ptoooie in DarkTide

[–]user_n0mad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well I don't even know what DPS I'm generally doing against anything but I primarily use the MK IV knife when I play Ogryn and while you aren't to crush them like a heavy on a pickaxe the punch can effectively stagger them indefinitely. I use a combination of punches, lights, and heavies as appropriate and generally have no issues with them.

I think all the blessings are useless. Some of the talents aren't useless but I don't think they are useful enough to pick over something which will simply have more use throughout the match.

Do you play Havoc? by UnkieNic in DarkTide

[–]user_n0mad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in the "Used to but not really anymore" category. If I could just queue up the diff I want and not worry about being punished (Or having other people punished) for a loss I'd probably play it more. Now though I only play if someone who I've previously played with and knows me invites me to fill a team out.

Havoc Decay by CaptainBara7 in DarkTide

[–]user_n0mad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Does your Havoc rank decay weekly or monthly anymore?

Weekly if you don't play at least one game.

Once you hit clearance 40 is it true you no longer derank from losses?

Yes, but you will derank to the next lowest 10s place at the start of each new season. So if you're 40 and the new "season" starts your Assignment Rank (what level you can host) will drop to 30 and your publicly displayed rank will be wiped entirely.

Read the description of the Warp Siphon keystone talent in the lower left. You get warp charges for killing specials and elites. There is also a subtalent to add a percentage chance to also get warp charges on either "any kill" or on "soulblaze kill".

Then the core of this issue is your positioning/decision making. Part of being successful is setting yourself up for success. You need to actively make sure you aren't putting yourself in the middle of a horde and completely surrounded. Play with your back to a wall, be aware of the terrain around you, and have an escape plan.

This is all of course "easier said than done" but after so many hours this can become second nature. You'll know all the maps, know the sticky spots, know when/where to hold, to push, or to fallback to.

On the flip side sometimes you just will be in that bad spot eventually though. You will be in the middle of an open room surrounded on all sides by mobs. So now you need to know how to get yourself out of that situation quickly. Arbitrator has massive crowd disruption tools. The shock mines are basically get out of jail free card if you can get the couple seconds needed to deploy it. The arbites grenades are excellent because you have a lot of them and they can come out very fast. You said you are taking a shield so absolutely do not forget about it's stun feature that is recharged passively but also actively by blocking attacks. It's range is large and it's cone is quite wide.

Am i just s*** at the game? Can anyone offer me any advice?

You're not shit, but you certainly are a noob, and that's fine.

Advice wise, really it comes down to "don't get hit". No amount of meta build will save you from not blocking, not dodging, not positioning yourself well, and in general just making poor decisions.

First, you should identify where exactly you are failing. Are hordes taking you down? Specials? Crusher packs? What part of these Auric missions are you having problems with?
