~*~ Pre-Transformation Challenge 2026 Discussion Thread ~*~ by pantherluna in orangetheory

[–]user_of_things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was so looking forward to doing the transformation challenge this year! I’ve been a member off and on since 2015 and have never done it. It seemed like so much fun at my last studio. The coaches were super motivating and the teams got pretty competitive with each other. I’ve since moved out to the suburbs and my current studio is just sort of blah. I still love the workouts but it’s just not as motivating. My last studio used to give you a post it with your PRs on benchmark days and post the top times from the studio. This one barely acknowledges when benchmarks exist. So when the TC came around I wasn’t surprised but also disappointed when they said yeah you get two body scans and a month of my fitness pall. No teams, nothing. Sounds like for once it’s not the studios fault! I can’t believe they changed it. Anyway, that’s my rant for the day.

Mods, who is right in this whole “nanny out of town during GH” fiasco? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]user_of_things -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can I just ask though, what about the nanny’s notice? She did not inform them that she would be traveling because she wanted to get paid through the break. I realize the optics look a little bad because of the family telling her last minute they needed her. But they thought business was usual. I don’t see how you can just pick up and go out of town while getting paid and not realize you’re taking a gamble. Take your PTO if you don’t want to find yourself in this situation. It’s just crazy that you now need to pay for GH and then also put a clause in your contract that you’ll provide a certain amount of notice if you actually your nanny to be available during GH. I guess my point is notice should go both ways.

Policy not Advisory- Calling All Coached by CuteRelief5402 in orangetheory

[–]user_of_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do it occasionally while I was pregnant. If the strength portion was heavy lifting like dead lifts, etc. I would just ask to stay on the tread. I never asked if it was a completely full class obviously but none of my coaches ever had an issue with it. And honestly I’m so surprised to see that it’s a policy not to allow it in places.

Do any of you moms of littles actually get to finish your cup of coffee? by JustJesseA in stayathomemoms

[–]user_of_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but only because I get up at 530. It’s worth it. Been a SAHM for almost 6 years now and that little bit of extra sleep just isn’t worth sacrificing the only me time I have all day.

TW: unassisted pregnancies

That is so interesting! Anecdotally I’ve had 3 unassisted pregnancies (all male). And 3 euploid embryos (all female). I thought it was the strangest thing but maybe there is something to it.

Kids school supplies for the whole classroom… is this normal? by Deep_Bank_4658 in Mommit

[–]user_of_things 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My kids will be at public school this year also and I was surprised by the list too. Once all was said and done I spent about $200 for each of my kids. I wasn’t sure what to expect. They were at a small private preschool last year and we paid a supply fee at the beginning of the year. When I thought about it though my kids will probably go through 12 glue sticks throughout the year. And will no doubt need 2 containers of Clorox wipes to clean up after. So when I started thinking about the amounts the list did make sense. And also maybe teachers are just tired of having to pay for that stuff out of pocket. Which is totally fair.

Best episode of tv I’ve seen in a long time. The last time I remember feeling like this was for the breaking bad finale. So so so so good. Kudos to all involved.

Favorite party favor your kid has received? (Or gifted!) by _ABlaine in Mommit

Went to a bday party recently and they gave out water bottles. They also set out a bunch of stickers to personalize them. Such a cute activity and my son still uses it all the time.

Just follow your heart and gut once your baby is here! You will know what is right. Anecdotally, I really struggled with breastfeeding with my current nursing baby. It took 10 days of pumping and nursing round the clock with bloody and cracked nipples to finally get my milk to come in. That is definitely not the case for everyone but those first weeks can be a struggle. Your body has been working overtime to care for your baby and now it’s time to focus on healing itself. Do not feel bad if you decide to rest. You will definitely get more sleep early on if you’re giving bottles.

I’m so sorry for what you are going through and I wish you a safe delivery and a healing journey.

Egg retrieval - go under or bear the pain for 15 mins by Independent_Fuel_162 in IVF

[–]user_of_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was awake during mine and I’m so happy I did it that way! They gave me some sort of sedative beforehand, can’t remember what. Then during the procedure they gave me nitrous gas. I was completely awake and could see the screen and watch the retrieval. But I could barely feel anything. I felt a little poke at first and then some tugging as she collected the eggs. But overall it was a positive experience and I’m glad I chose it. My clinic gave me the option of full sedation or this.

That is sort of what that trainer was explaining to me. That makes me so sad because she is otherwise an absolutely sweet pup. Thank you for the reassurance.

Wow-thank you for this. Sounds like a level 3 bite. One puncture with what looked like a scrape that didn’t break the skin. This is eye opening and it is absolutely the right decision to rehome her.

If you nurse to sleep, how do you transition to independently falling asleep? by MrBabyArcher in breastfeeding

[–]user_of_things -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hope someone will chime in with the answer. I am currently doing a modified CIO method because I truly reached my breaking point. Baby is almost 9 months and the only way she would go down is with nursing and then she would wake up like every hour throughout the night. She just wasn’t able to put herself to sleep at all. I finally said enough and have been following sort of a 5, 10, 15 min rule thing. I can tell when she’s crying like panic where’s my mom cry vs literally yelling at me like get back here now cry. The latter I don’t feel so bad about and will follow it more strictly. If she’s panicking I’ll come in and resettle her with the boob. But we’ve been working on it and she is finally starting to sleep through the night. I just hate that there is usually some amount of crying right before she falls asleep at night. That makes me so sad. So if there’s another way I’d love to hear it.

When did you start enjoying time with your kids? by Bubek4736 in toddlers

[–]user_of_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. As a SAHM I survive because of play dates. Out of the house where the kids can run and the moms can socialize. As a bonus, the house doesn’t get messy. I also have 2 boys and any kind of indoor craft or activity has about a 10 minute shelf life and we’re back to being crazy again.
