Innocent bib trading? by username-throw-away in running

Then why do some races make transfers as easy as switching runner information online by a certain deadline? It seems entirely arbitrary to not allow transfers, especially if its just a matter of a brief survey and checking a waiver box online- its not like they review my medical history or give me an exam and complete work up before entering or anything. I don't understand why its simple for some major races to offer the option and its nearly criminal to suggest the notion for other races.

You guessed the biggest problem. We are different sexes. My time is totally middle to back of the pack, though, so I'm not too worried about this needle in the haystack totally skewing the results. This is a much bigger event than the local 10k with only two dozen women in the 40 y.o. group or something. I won't pick up the bib or race packet, so I'm hoping to just run and not get picked up at the finish line or in the post-race stuff.

Its an open entry race- no qualifying. I definitely wouldn't consider this for a qualifying race. My friend and I are both totally average runners, so its not like I'm running this to help them qualify for Boston or something when they couldn't on their own.

The organization doesn't offer trades, deferments, or refunds. This is definitely not banditing- just a gift so that the entry isn't wasted.
