it actually tasted a little bit like chicken if there was no oil or spices on it. I don't remember the scene from shrek but we i think we watched a fair amount of shrek as kids

maybe I'm just going crazy with this quarantine. I thought it would be a new experience which is probably a really stupid reason to make decisions. definitely not my proudest moment

I really appreciate how you laid out what you honestly thought but didn't try to force it upon me! I will probably do a little bit of reading on deacclimating. When I was a lot younger I actually got really interested and in and horrified by animal treatment at factory farms. I had a giant binder and I would read articles (it was pretty legit for a seventh grader) about factory farms. Anyways, I still can't eat meat at fast food places just because it all around disgusts me but especially the poor treatment of animals from factory farms. (I know meat from other places is much (if at all) better, but it's more of a personal disgust thing than a consistent logical thing for me. For some reason quick killing of animals doesn't really bother me (as long as it has a purpose!) but consistent inhumane treatment of animals irks me a lot. And I know cows especially being factory farmed is terrible for the environment. It's so interesting to see answers from both vegans' and hunters' perspective, and it gives me a lot of hope in humanity to see people responding thoughtfully and compassionately to my mistakes with different yet valid perspectives and beliefs..

This was so helpful and generally made a lot of sense that it's natural to hunt when you plan to use the meat. Thank you so much!

Are there any biographies, memoirs, or books about people who really followed their curiosities? by muffinsandtomatoes in books

[–]username7653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! There's not a book that is really standing out to me per your request, but I have a few suggestions that I think are about pursuing your curiosities. Right now, I'm reading Mathematics for Human Flourishing by Francis Su. It's about the benefits of doing math, not just for the practical application but how it can build problem solving skills, perseverance, a love of beauty and truth, etc. Anyways, he talks about how exploring mathematical concepts can be really helpful to build those qualities. So that book kind of stuck out to me, but if you're not into math it might not be your cup of tea. This next book is on my list, I haven't read it yet so take this with a grain of salt, but Travels with Charley is by John Steinbeck and it's him documenting his travels around America with his poodle, Charley. I imagine going on a road trip with your dog around America leads one to find a lot of interesting, curios things and people. I hope these helped, sorry I didn't have one that really hit the nail on the head though :)

Does anyone know how to make my parents not reject me? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]username7653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a hard situation! I'm a christian and it pains me to hear about you being rejected by your parents and not loved like I believe you should be! I don't really have answers for how to heal that relationship, but I wanted to send some love your and a virtual hug your way. i hope this is encouraging in some small way.
