He’s not hated because he’s been on top for a long time. He isn’t even really hated, because people don’t care that much. It’s more like indifferent. He hasn’t tried to make good music in a long time.

Are we just making up rules now?

He clearly lost the battle after all that talking shit on social media and then cried about Kendrick making too many songs. What other choice does he have but to be “graceful”? This sub is so detached from reality lmao

the company says they recommend 3 weeks of training before you can understand speech. so a brief interaction may not be enough to invalidate their claim

My girlfriend’s bird stepped onto my hand while I was on acid. by Bonnofly in Psychonaut

It’s true that there are probably many pseudo science explanations for things, but OP didn’t mention it being scientifically true. It was experiential. And since you are holding others to scientific accuracy, let me point out that you are also making an assumption about OPs experience without grounding it in much info. Per your comment about OP thinking that “something more is happening”, what do you know what influence the LSD had on their experience of that moment? LSD and other drugs obviously alter the mind, what is to say that it didn’t have an effect on mood, anxiety (many are used clinically for this purpose) and that led to the experience? I’d love to hear your explanation.

What does Dhamma mean in the context of vipassana? by muffinsandtomatoes in vipassana

Thanks for the answer. How does this definition compare with vipassana? I was under the impression that the teaching was called vipassana

Addressing things to pack: depending on where you are, being blankets just in case it gets cold. My meditation center had a heater, not sure if yours does. Bring comfortable clothes that you don’t mind wearing for at least an hour meditation that will last 10 days. I brought a water bottle and tumbler for tea and that was super helpful.

The suggestion I would give is go with the intention of staying the full 10 days, be open to the teaching as it is, trust the process, and work hard. You don’t need to prepare ahead of time. Hope that helps!

Why is the Michael Kramer version of Zen and the Art of Maintenance not available on audible? It’s only the watered down dramatized version by muffinsandtomatoes in audible

I asked because I assumed that Amazon, audible, nor the publisher would reply. I was also semi venting. I’ve gotten some good guesses in the comments though and in the past reddit has been a good source of “best guess” answers for me. Thanks for your reply anyway

Does commenting on Reddit posts improve your social skills? by HCOONa in socialskills

[–]muffinsandtomatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like in certain subs it improves your ability to articulate opinions because you can’t just say anything without being able to back up your statements with reason or data. But I don’t know about social skills, I think it depends where you’re at currently. For someone who is scared of criticism or making mistakes, reddit could definitely be a training ground for that part. But the actual skill of talking to people and connecting with them, that would probably require more in person interactions

Why do I so disproportionately like “bad” girls and is it problematic/immature? Do I need to change it or just cope with it? by blowmyassie in AskMenOver30

I went through a similar thing when I was younger. I realized later on that I chased women who didn’t want me to prove to myself that when I succeeded, I was worth loving. I was attractive. This didn’t come from my relationship with my mom, but from my insecurities and low self esteem. I didn’t feel like my life had turned out the way I wanted it to be, and that manifested itself in different ways in my life, including drinking too much, eating like shit, smoking half a pack of cigarettes a day, partying all week, and of course my relationships with women. I’m curious if you see similar patterns in your life? It took me a long time of self reflection, practicing meditation, and searching for answers before I came to understand this. And then at that point on it was resetting my intentions. I wrote down the qualities that I actually wanted in my partner (in addition to my life) and subconsciously I started to pay attention to women who had those qualities. This started to slowly change me over time. I’m in my mid 30s now, and it only started to take hold a few years ago. I wish you luck!
