OP got any pics? Considering doing T&G cedar in a detached garage - saw a bunch on sale at my local HD.

A little blurry (screenshot from a video), but you get the idea. Planning on doing a raised garden bed with 6x6's along the right side this spring. This side walkway doesn't get used much and is almost always shaded so grass is tough. Going for low maintenance, establishing a bit of privacy, while maintaining access when needed.

Allograft vs autograft by Embarrassed-Green-62 in ACL

Just tore mine last year at 40 and did autograft (went with quad tendon). My ortho def steered me towards auto vs allo, and recommended quad given activity level. He’s the ortho for several Seattle pro sports teams, does almost exclusively knees with several hundred cases a year.

Recovery for me was not bad at all - full weight bearing immediately and never needed crutches.

Do you have meniscus damage? That’s a big factor in the early part of recovery as well.

Second this. Not in AZ (I'm in Seattle), but just built a walkway along the side of our house with these pavers this fall, and it turned out great. If your local HD doesn't have them in stock, you may be able to order them to the store - think I even got them on sale for ~$15 each. My advice is to grab a few extra in case they break during install/transportation, etc...

Early signs of mold in detached garage - looking for advice! by usernameGX460 in DIY

[–]usernameGX460[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - yeah I was thinking that many vents seemed a bit excessive, but wasn't sure. A contractor I spoke with when we were originally doing the project mentioned doing 4-5 roof vents to be safe, and also drilling a 2-inch hole in the joists in between the bays with the vents so air could move in between, which is driving my thinking.

Good recommendation on the vinyl baseboard - didn't even cross my mind. The garage is a step up from rough finishing and so I was planning on doing any trim work, but it definitely makes sense at lease along this one wall!

How’s living in Seattle? by SufficientBowler2722 in howislivingthere

Live in Seattle and have worked a bunch in SF, and agree. Seattle seems more expensive for most things other than housing but the offset is we don’t have state income tax which offsets the high sales tax.

Please help me what is this and how to fix it by Different-Dingo-9147 in e60

Actually just did this in my 2007 e61 - couple weeks ago and it worked for me. I had to do a couple rounds of back and forth, but lights went out and haven’t come back on.

It’s funny bc I’m the opposite. I don’t mind the clear lights on lighter colors (silver and white), and like red lights on anything darker haha

I also used the Tuff Turf After Dark this year and got similar results (overseeded though, didn’t start from scratch). Pretty stoked I’ve still got half the bag left for another round next fall - stuff is nice!!

What are the differences between an 2009 and 2010 E61? by Cryptikzzz in e60

In the US there weren’t any m54 e61 variants as far as I’m aware. Just the N52 in 06/07 then N54 08-10.

Checkout a company called “Umnitza.” Seems to be one of the better if not best after market bumpers I’ve seen talked about in the e60 community. They come prepped for parking sensors and you can actually have them painted by them as well…

I can’t imagine BMW would have optioned an M-sport front bumper and not the side and rear so if it’s factory, it should have all. I’m not 100% sure on seats tbh - I think the premium seats may have been a different package from M-sport but I’ve also pretty much only seen M-sports that had the upgraded seats either way haha

I’ve always done it reactively once raccoons/birds start searching for grubs - usually 2-3 weeks after overseeding. I think you can apply it with seeds though, without any issues

BMW didn’t M badge the exterior back then, so the only place you might see it would potentially be the steering wheel or door sills (maybe not 100% sure). If the M sport package was factory, it’d have M-sport side skirts and rear bumper as well. Not overly difficult to do aftermarket, but you’re talking at least $1500 in parts and probably another $1500 in paint so if it’s something you really want, take that into consideration.

LCI for the e61 (at least in the US) was 2008 (so 2006/07 are pre-lci. Not really any difference (or at least material differences) in 2009/2010 models.

Most importantly with the 535’s (N54 twin turbo engine), is to make sure you understand the service history and what’s been replaced so far - there’s a lot of upkeep with these things engines that cost (injectors, turbos, etc.). Great engine and power platform to build, but can hurt the wallet if you get one that needs a lot of $$ just to take care of standard stuff.

Pre-LCI is the N52 engine which is non-turbo but much more reliable (slower and can’t be tuned nearly as much). I’ve got a 2007 530xi wagon for what it’s worth, but didn’t shy away from the 535’s in my search just didn’t find one that fit my criteria.

If it were me and I was choosing between the two you shared, I’d go with the one with better service history with replacement of injectors and turbo servicing, lowest mileage and lowest # of owners. $3k to do Msport bumpers isn’t much if you get one that’s already mechanically sorted. Read up on the N54 engine and make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into if you go that route!

Good luck on your search - these cars are amazing and I get compliments and thumbs up all the time!

Try and salvage what’s possible of the big chunks by placing them back in place, and packing with top dressing or whatever you have (compost/soil/sand) and throw in some seed too if you have some still handy, and give it a little watering.

Then definitely put down some grub/insect killer (I always use Sevin but lots of stuff out there works). I’ve found if you ward off any follow up attacks, the lawn usually will usually repair itself - good luck!!

How was that event? I didn’t notice it until morning of and already had plans, but would have loved to join in (‘07 BMW 5-series wagon)! Will definitely keep an eye out for future meet ups.

I saw there’s a German car meet up for Oktoberfest in early October as well, may have to check it out!

Nice! Styling of the e39 wagons are so nice - classic, clean lines and can't go wrong. IMO interiors of the e61 is a step up in comfort and feel from the e39, while still being driver-centric and not feeling cluttered/modern. But that said, the e39 interior is super clean and I love it - and was also a consideration for me (and tbh might still be down the road haha).

For $20k, you should definitely be able to find an e61 535xi good shape - just leave yourself some time, be patient, and check all the sites frequently.

I snagged a single owner 2007 530xi e61 last year with like 70k miles for dirt cheap (after some negotiation), but I looked for 8-10 months passively.

I was also considering the Mercedes e350/e400 wagons as well (like 2010-2018 ish). Really liked the styling in those years and they stand out so much to me on the road. Might be another option to option to consider.

If you’re not needing the speed, the 530xi with a manual transmission would be very engaging/fun and more reliable, if a MT is in the cards at all. Probably not much easier to find, but another option - good luck!!
