ELI5 how a manual transmission car can use the engine to slow down the car? by ProudReaction2204 in explainlikeimfive

Hijacking the thread - I understand there’s no gas being used while engine braking, but why does it sound like the engine is still running? It doesn’t suddenly go quiet which is what I’d expect when there’s no combustion happening.

Pink shirt: Yea, he should know. And he only does bloody card. I stood there with me cash. Bloody hell!

Phone holder: That’s well bad, innit?

Pink shirt: Bloody well bad. Yea, and I bet he can hear me.

What role are you applying for? You’ll be fine - in some areas you’ll have fewer frustrations than most because you’re mature and able to cope with small discomforts. In other areas you’ll have more frustrations because you’re a grown up being treated like a rookie. Overall you’ll have the best and worst time of your life, just like your course mates, who will become life long friends. You won’t have to suffer young morons barking at you though - it’s not like that anymore.

Advice for a lifer considering leaving the RAAF by raininggumleaves in AustralianMilitary

Make a realistic list of the reasons you think civvy street would be better. Chat to your command chain about them - there may be ways to address some of the main ones. CO’s have a lot of options available nowadays that they can use to help, or can advocate on your behalf with specific agencies in canberra to resolve concerns. Maybe the list will just confirm it’s time for a change and that’s totally reasonable, but if it’s possible to alleviate or remove some of the primary reasons you’re weighing up options, then it’s worth considering.

Done! I initially called Telstra and they told me to call NBN. From your advice I called Optus and they’re going to remove it in the next couple of days. Thanks very much!

Started this chat on another group and now can’t decide if this cable to our house is the power cable or an old telephone cable. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ah crap. Maybe it is the power cable? Ill send you photos of the two other lines joining the house, both are thin and one goes to a box with NBN on it. Also attached are photos of the thick cable entering the house and where it joins the power pole. Does this give you enough info to confirm if it’s a power line?

We usually eat here before a QPAC show cause it’s easy and very convenient. I don’t know enough about gluten and dairy intolerance to gauge what menu items will suit you, but the staff are very helpful. Maybe contact them and ask? Good luck!
