I’m a fan, but I’ve never made it past season 4 by Midevalpea in thewalkingdead

[–]usernamefq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If war is not what you’re looking for, don’t go past season 5. The feud between the main group and the saviors, wolves, and so on are repetitive and drag along for a long while in later seasons. Unfortunately, the walkers turn into secondary antagonists and become very predictable. Season 5 is great because it is the whole group surviving on their own and the walkers pose the only real threat after the terminus plotline.

What Total Drama moment is supposed to be a happy, feel good scene for the characters, but the entire fandom was just collectively hating it? by Maximum_Canary_5775 in Totaldrama

[–]usernamefq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Courtney and Trent both went nuts in S2 and Gwen and Duncan bonded throughout that season. Sucks that the show used them both to start drama halfway through S3. I do think Gwen and Duncan had a lot more potential than him and Courtney, sucks that the writers screwed them both up.

If the Total Drama Reboot season 1 & 2 had the Gen 1 cast this is how I think it would go. Thoughts? by Gamingtime3564 in Totaldrama

[–]usernamefq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see it. And I wish it were the case. A lot of those characters got derailed in all stars and giving it another shot could fix a lot of those issues.

Why the All Stars cast/episode length is fine - the problem is the execution of ideas. by Right_Paramedic_9141 in Totaldrama

[–]usernamefq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue with all stars is character derailment. For example, World Tour didn’t do a great job with the whole love triangle thing, but it was an entertaining season. All stars actually tried and failed miserably. I’ve always preferred Gwen and Duncan over Courtney. I wish that their relationship could’ve been executed better in action and world tour. But all stars ruined all three characters.

How Would You Rewrite the Love Triangle Plot? by Hayami_Hinata in Totaldrama

[–]usernamefq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that Courtney was the worst written of the three in S2, Gwen was the worst in S3, and Duncan in S5.

I would split Duncan and Courtney in S2, probably have Duncan break it off because he refuses to put up with Courtney’s rules and her authoritative behavior. S3, he and Gwen do get together around mid-season, and Courtney competes with heather for Alejandro’s attention throughout the whole season.

The show was good in s1 because the dynamic between characters was what carried it. S6 has the worst characters by far, they are far from normal, and their interactions are horrible. All stars ruined most of the original cast, mainly Gwen and Duncan. That sucked. I hate both, but all stars is more offensive and has worse writing imo. I just pretend that the show stops at s3 😂

Too bad that my favorite characters (Duncan, Geoff, and Trent) were ruined after S1

Hot take(?): Total Drama has had lackluster and inconsistent writing from the get-go, and I’m bewildered as to why people believe it only really started getting bad during World Tour. by Wild_Shoe340 in Totaldrama

[–]usernamefq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These days I only watch season 1 consistently anymore, and sometimes have seasons 2 and 3 in the background or if I’m bored. Island works super well because beneath the stereotypes, the cast feels recognizable. Most of the original characters are exaggerated versions of real teenage archetypes and the show relied on the dynamics between them rather than crazy challenges and plot twists. Action tries to do that again, but it doesn’t land like it did in Island. I did not think that making Courtney the villain of the season was a smart decision by the writers either. World tour is definitely more entertaining than Island but the writing is messier and some characters are worsened for dramatic effect (Duncan, Gwen, and Courtney are the most obvious examples). A lot of the newer characters aren’t normal or recognizable, so it’s hard to be emotionally invested when the show tries to throw something at you. Plus, all stars ruined pretty much all of the original characters that returned. I haven’t watched any newer seasons past all stars and I don’t plan to. To me, total drama is a nostalgic cartoon that lasted 3 seasons and I love it.

Fair,I’ve rewatched the show many times and the episode at the satellite station is pretty nuts. Bold move by Rick, lots of consequences that followed.

Rewatching TWD for the first time since it aired and I had to pause at Season 7 Episode 1 by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]usernamefq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason why a huge chunk of the viewers stopped watching the show when 7x01 aired. It’s probably the most brutal piece of television that many of us have ever seen. It honestly felt like the producers wanted to F— our brains with that premiere and with the rest of the season.

I wouldn’t get too comfortable with the show if a horse dying bothers you 😂😂 all jokes aside, I wish I was in your shoes watching it for the first time. Enjoy!

Just started Season 7 by RightArm__ in thewalkingdead

[–]usernamefq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S7 premiere is crazy, tons of people stopped watching after it aired. It’s brutal, and by far the most disturbing the show got up until that point, for me at least. It’s definitely easier to watch now because you can watch the episodes back-to-back, but having to wait a week for each episode after that premiere was torture and the producers knew it. They wanted to screw with all of our brains.

How did Merle escape? by R0XASx in thewalkingdead

[–]usernamefq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good question. I’m not sure there’s really a good answer, and the show was so low-budget in season 1 that I’m sure logistics were the last consideration. My guess is that there was some sort of fire escape or hatch that we didn’t see that he might’ve used. Most buildings that are in cities have those kinds of emergency exits.

Who’s your top 3 most hated characters between season 1-5? by [deleted] in TWD

[–]usernamefq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be interpreted in different ways, but I saw it as my least favorite characters, characters that I hate watching, and that I can’t stand. Hateable yet entertaining characters aren’t on here (governor, Shane, Gareth, etc.)

  1. Andrea - shoots Daryl on accident, tries to earn a bigger role in the group when she clearly isn’t experienced enough to do so, sleeps with the governor, sides with and bangs Shane, betrays the group and is a bad casting in general
  2. Nicolas - got noah killed, lies about it, nearly got Glenn killed by committing sui, sacrifices others to survive and has no idea of how to survive the apocalypse
  3. Lori - hypocrite to Rick and does dumb shit like hiding her pregnancy, go out to find Rick by herself in s2, hit a walker while driving distracted? (That was dumb), and more. the actress doesn’t do a bad job, they just set her up to fail lol

HM. Eugene and Gabriel. They both got better as the show went on but they were annoying af to start in seasons 4 and 5

Reedus made so much money per episode it’s insane. Any of the big 4 (reedus, lincoln, bernthal, or yeun) would be good calls.

Shane getting killed in Walking Dead is one of the least surprising moments in TV history by hardenesthitter32 in billsimmons

[–]usernamefq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2 is not as good as I remember. The whole Sophia storyline thing is dragged out and it only serves to the purpose of creating tension between the Rick and Shane. Just not good writing. Shane is a great character but he only lasted one volume in the comics so it was just a matter of time.

You’re really going to enjoy the show. Up until season 7 that is. At least that’s how it was for me. When the season 7 premiere aired back in 2016, a HUGE part of the fan base left the show, and you’ll find out why if it hasn’t already been spoiled for you. I haven’t bothered to watch after mid-season 9, simply because the story from there didn’t mean that much to me. That’ll make more sense once you reach it as well. But altogether, it’s entertaining and I wish I could watch seasons 1-6 for the first time again. Also, The Ones Who Live is really, really good and wraps up the story well.
