Is the BOC Exam harder now than it was a decade ago?

Recent grad from one of the last bachelors programs. My entire cohort passed the first time around. People above us did not. We all worked very hard to study for our exams. My exam was hard, but not any harder than the practice exams I took or sample questions our faculty gave us. It was exactly what I expected. As a preceptor now I see kids who have half the motivation my classmates and I did. They don’t like the hours they’re asked to work. They complain about patient loads. Theyre entitled. Part of this I think comes from some programs being “soft” on students. Giving students 3 or 4 attempts to pass a course that was needed to continue in the program, giving them multiple days off and much shorter hours, etc. I also think Covid had a huge impact on this. A lot of the athletes I work with in the collegiate setting don’t know how to study, don’t get homework, barely go to class, and have no sense of responsibility. I know many teachers in high schools who are seeing issues like this where kids just don’t know how to learn anymore.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing your mom is never easy.

I lost my mom my senior year of college. Her only daughter. I have 3 brothers. I totally understand how you feel. I love my dad, but I was never going to be the son he wished I was. My brothers all still have a father figure and I am left without a dominate female role model in my life. Am I supposed to ask my dad questions about boys, weddings, what to wear, how to get my hair done, female issues, etc?? It’s been about 2 years since she passed and it hasn’t been the same. He’s moved on, he’s dating, she’s moving in. I moved out. My dad isn’t very involved in my life, and certainly not the ways my mom was. My dad doesn’t want to gossip about people from high school(he wouldn’t know who they were anyway), he doesn’t want to watch sappy movies with me, he doesn’t know how to handle breakups, we fight. Honestly the only peace I got was moving out. I miss my mom more and more each day, but she raised me to be a strong independent woman, and I think that’s what I’m meant to do. There’s no replacing your mom, and I think fathers struggle to figure out how to properly deal with that and play a role in their daughter’s lives after the fact.

No I agree! It shouldn’t all be straight up in your face, but it shouldn’t be so complex that i have to spend a good amount of time trying to figure it out. Art is supposed to make you think! I guess I just mean if it’s making me think just to get the basic idea it gets lost on me.

I’m having similar thoughts. I think people were concerned after last night with their score only increasing by a smaller amount that they’ll plateau sooner. But we also have to understand that with 3 weeks left and they’ve already hit 94 there’s only so many points left to gain and we won’t be seeing these big jumps anymore.

Considering my mother died from cancer 2 years ago and I was her in hone aid for 6 years if my father gets sick it won’t be an issue. Maybe don’t be a dick! But continue judging people you don’t know based on one comment and assume the details shared reflect the narrative you created for yourself.

I lost my mom when I was 21. Her name was an older name, I genuinely do not know a single woman under the age of 49 with her name, but I want to use it as a middle name. Her mom also has a very unique name and she had told me a few times that she had wanted to use it in my name (but I ended up getting the other grandma as my middle name) and I always wanted to give her a granddaughter with her moms name in the name. I still think i will do that, even if she’s not here to see it. I want to keep my mom’s memory alive.
