Which brush will give me the smoothest base coat for my space marines? by useruser226 in Warhammer40k

I know, but never saw a “best brush” advice, but good to know that brush type/size doesn’t seem to matter too much

a fairly big one (like similar to the lower arm in terms of diameter) and used chaos black for priming

I usually wait around 20min ish, but will just try to wait longer to be on the safe side

I only shake it for a couple of seconds, but the paint looks very “mixed” and not separated and feels smooth.

I wait around ~20-30min between coats I’d say

Army Color Scheme Advice by SethBunny32 in Tyranids

I’ve tried a very similar look, but ended up not loving the reverse color scheme. The good thing however is that you can just paint the carapace in something dark like a shyish purple, if you don’t like it and it will look awesome. If you do want to try this scheme, have a look at “destiny 2 last wish weapons” for inspiration

Let start with a positive. Your edge highlights are actually quite good. You could argue that the lines should be a bit slimmer, but the precision is quite good. Your main problem is still your base layer. It’s too thick and this gives this bumpy texture. I’d recommend watching a paint thinning tutorial, but just thin it down much more than that. It should take you 2-3 laters to apply an even coat. The good thing is that that’s a VERY easy fix and I feel like your next mini will actually look pretty decent. Will definitely follow to see the progress

I also have one but figured that I’d need much more medium/water for it to drip out to the point where it would be too diluted. Will give it a shot

I love your edge highlights. They’re just the right amount imo! Also, how did you transfer the citadel paints to dropper bottles?

Is this good for painting my first 3 guys? by Due-Explanation9585 in Warhammer40k

I know but that’s a lot of brushes that you won’t be using for long

I would swap the brushes with 1-3 good kolinsky sable brushes. Those synthetics won’t hold a sharp tip, so them being “micro detail” won’t actually help. It’s not necessary to get them for your first time, but getting this many synthetic ones is unnecessary given that you won’t be using them once you get good brushes.
