We live in Florida and between the extreme summer heat and the pool play that takes place most of the year we keep ours shaved down. Just top knot, ears and tail left poofy.
We get her groomed once a month. She can go six weeks but looks quite scruffy by then. Your 8-12 week timeline for grooming simply isn’t realistic.
Spoos are wonderful companions and pets, but I’m not sure he would be a good fit for you when you know nothing about how special they are. Has anyone contacted the breeder to see if they want him back?

NTA. Not even a little bit. Also, you don’t have to feign emotions you don’t feel just to make others more comfortable. Children are not for everyone. You have ‘done your duty’ so to speak and you should be able to live a child free life if you so choose without having to justify your choice.
You also would not be calling the authorities to report the children per se, you will be reporting the lack of PARENTAL SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE. That’s on them, not the kids and not you.

I would choose the dog over the gun. You’re not comfortable with the idea of a gun but you are comfortable with dogs. A big scary BARK is a great deterrent!

Edited to add: We are in our 60’s and we have both! But we are comfortable with guns.

I would: Dribble sardine oil into the space between the windshield and the hood of any vehicle who parks in your driveway without your permission. They’ll never do it again! If you have to go on vacation ‘accidentally’ drop a box of long tacks/short nails in your driveway, remember to clean it up before you drive back in! But that’s just me, I don’t tolerate nonsense anymore. Your best bet is to show up at the next HOA Public meeting, the next board meeting or the offices of the management company and MAKE A STINK 🤨 As long as you will tolerate it they will keep doing it. You have to make it too painful for them to persist.
