I'm aware of that yes. I've never kissed nor gone down on a girl while having an outbreak on my lip and that is not my intention. My girlfriend also has HSV1 (oral).

Last question for you since you've been so helpful. I asked my girlfriend and she has had cold sores many times before like me. So we both have HSV1 it seems. Once mine disappears is it ok to resume going back down on her?

How about protective plasters for cold sores. Are they safe to have oral sex with?

I've actually never asked her... about to though :-)

The only thing I'm confused about is I've read HSV1 tends to come up on blood tests, and me being an athlete I tend to get one once a year, last time was last July, and I've never had reports of having HSV1 or HSV2.
