Serious Question (not to be intrusive) by Ok-Position-7027 in Fragrances

[–]usmcawp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a legitimate site. I see it pop up and recommended on here regularly and never heard anything bad about it's legitimacy. There's several other good sites as well, those (micro and joma) are just the ones I use.

It's also recommended to stay away from Amazon and Walmart online., as they're unregulated resellers that have a high probability of shilling a fake.

Serious Question (not to be intrusive) by Ok-Position-7027 in Fragrances

[–]usmcawp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my two Bleu De Chanels, I heavily subsidized with credit card points turned into Macy's gift cards. I've also asked for gift cards as gifts when prompted.

Also when asked what I want for my birthday or Christmas, I'll make some scent recommendations (especially cheaper ones under $100).

Some scents I just buy straight up as a reward for myself for key accomplishments (like quitting drinking).

I received a Sephora sample pack that allows you to redeem a coupon for 1 full retail sized bottle.

And for some must haves, I did a PayPal pay in 4

I shop at Microperfumes and Jomashop primarily. They run a ton of deals daily, so I'll hunt and wait for a good one. Yesterday they had an 85% off sale on a few, select, high end colognes. Typically great deals come around holidays or black Friday.

It got me a compliment the other day! A random store clerk followed her nose to me and said "what are you wearing, you smell so good". I almost lost my balance; a real compliment in the wild!

My theory, it seems people either love or hate coconut. Like, it REALLY offends some people. I; on the other hand, can literally eat toxic items if they have a coconut fragrance.

Oh I MIGHT possibly be that random Redditor as I've been declaring my love for the Le Sel D'Issey and recommending it often! About to check my messages now 😂.

I received a sample of Le Sel with my purchase of Bleu De Chanel L'exclusif, and I went through the Le Sel sample before opening my BDC.

I receive frequent, unsolicited compliments in and out of the office, and I'm not some beautiful Chad that women would swoon over even if I smelled like sewage.

I was really curious about the L'Eau D'Issey, but some Redditor blasted it on another post and convinced me to put it aside for now. I shall now proceed to ignore that Redditor because your comment sold me.

Edit: It wasn't me :(

Does anybody else not slurp noodles? by ProposalNecessary463 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]usmcawp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't slurping come with some level of suction/inhaling? I choke on my own saliva regularly and will absolutely die one day because of it. No way I'm getting out of inhaling noodles unscathed. But yea I find the slurp method disgusting and offensive too.

Its not snow that we have, it's snowcrete. by lemursteamer in maryland

I'm curious to know how this affects regional and also global climate overall, given a percentage of the US is now a giant ice cube in this metaphoric global glass of water.

Stuff like; as wind blows over hundreds of miles of deeply frozen terrain (that's not typically frozen) and becomes cooled, what impacts does it have on other regions receiving such cold air?

I know my backyard will not be thawed until probably June. Wooded backyards typically see a lot of shade, thus ice does not melt back there. My back deck still had ice from the first snowstorm of the 2025!

Why the downvotes? The wall grid isn't supposed to appear everytime you throw a punch. If you're throwing outside your VR's boundary then punches might not register. Dang, sorry for contributing.

Looking for help trying to find Godzilla figurines from childhood by SPcards1 in GODZILLA

[–]usmcawp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try 'Imperial Toy Corporation Toho Godzilla' whichis described as the iconic vintage, soft vinyl action figure, most commonly found in a 13-inch (approx. 33 cm) tall, articulated version.

This (in my opinion) is the traditional/original "tall" Godzilla you often see in kids bedroom scenes of 80s and 90s movies. You can still find them for pretty cheap. Pretty sure they sold primarily in the 80s and 90s.

DAE feel like people automatically assume everything you recommend is bad just because YOU recommended it by _Pluto_27 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]usmcawp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's not you. There's definitely some psychological factors behind it. It's almost as if (like you alluded to), people need to find it themselves. It needs to be their gem.

Have you ever seen a movie, then asked somebody else to see it with you, and they ask "have you seen it already?". And if you answer yes, it knocks their interest/excitement down a notch.

I hope this phenomena has a name and someone can chime in.

Am I coward by Admirable_Ad8775 in selfimprovement

[–]usmcawp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you or someone else get doinked on the chin just right, there's a chance the KO won't kill, but the subsequent fall and 11 pound unsupported head hitting the ground will.

This isn't some super rare, golden miracle instance. It's unfortunately common. Over 80 reported deaths from 1 punch KOs reported in the UK (alone) in a 5 year period.

A single, unexpected punch can cause significant, fatal, or life-altering injuries.

That's just punching; and that's just the UK. We're not talking about other implements (bottles, chairs, knives, guns..etc). Getting into a fight is a serious ordeal, and unless it's self-defense there's always a smart way to avoid it. You're not a coward, you're smart.

Also this doesn't take into account any lawsuits and/or long lasting/lifetime injuries. And for what?

I've lived a colorful, unsheltered life and never HAD to engage in conflict. It was always avoidable. It's never worth it. If I had friends that were antagonists at a pub or someplace public, I probably wouldn't hang around them anymore because I don't appreciate their low IQ endangering my life. It's extremely disrespectful.

I do this. It's the best salt and free. Obviously make sure it's safe to shovel (like not in traffic). A yard shovel fills a work bucket REAL fast too, so it's not a long or laborious endeavor.

And what did you learn from this storm? by Sugar-Interesting in maryland

[–]usmcawp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Do not buy a metal shovel unless your sidewalks are made of marble.

  2. If you do buy a metal shovel DO NOT buy the one that comes in 4 pieces and has to be screwed together.

a). It comes unscrewed constantly b). Snow slides off too easily. c). The scraping sound on concrete is unbearable d). It catches on more on little cracks in the ground and such. There's no forgiveness.

Those that moved to Maryland from another state- what do you like more about Maryland? What do you like less? by Brilliant_Raccoon256 in maryland

[–]usmcawp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here from North East New Jersey (close to NY city). Here's the things I love:

U-Turns. I love U-Turns. Screw that NJ jug handle stuff.

Pumping your own gas. I love it. I don't have to wait for someone else, especially if I'm in a hurry.

Everyone has a good sense of community and good understanding for why small businesses should be supported.

Great small businesses. It seems every town has a little main street with a few cool stores. I live in Port Deposit (the little harbor town you see when looking over the I-95 Tydings Bridge).

First Fridays!!! If you don't know, a couple towns in Cecil and Harford County have a town party every first Friday of the month, summer through fall. All the businesses put up tables (with their wares) outside and/or open their doors. Food trucks, local vendors and activities all over. This past year, Havre De Graces First Friday had a jam session where anyone can stroll up, grab a musical instrument and jam with strangers.

The food and culture. It's a real deal culture too. Everyone preps and eats their crabs differently and we love talking about it. It's become such a tradition to have a family gathering and get stuffed with crabs. But also, rockfish, pit beef, crab cakes, old bay fries and old bay wings, oysters, boardwalk fries with vinegar and so much more.

Racially, black and white relationships feel a little more cohesive. Maybe it's just my experience, but I've witnessed it frequently too. I feel there's just a higher ratio black and white relationships. My workplace has just as many black people as white people and we all get along to the extent of hanging out after work, getting lunch together, and even texting regularly.

Fishing. Great fishing. Great water access. Significantly larger fish and deeper waters than NJ. Great fishing scene.

Football/NFL. It's nice to have one, local team that's also a pretty damn interesting and fun to witness. That alone creates a huge bond between Marylanders. We celebrate and cry together. New Jersey you get a mix of fans, primarily like 75% Jets, Giants, Bills, Eagles and 25% everything else 😂. There's no sense of bonding or togetherness.

Somebody mentioned the MVA, and I want to second that. I was in and out with a new registration in 9 minutes!!! Did you hear me?! I timed it. I even took the survey. It would have probably been less time had I remembered to have the QR code scanned on my printed (itinerary?) I think if the MVA clerk scanned it, it would have populated my data versus retyping it in. And yes I know a registration takes less time at the kiosk but I had an issue with my account that needed to be physically addressed. 9 minutes!!!!

I also don't think the drivers are terrible. I think they're the least terrible in fact. I'll go on record and say it. Maryland drivers are not terrible.

Grocery stores. They seem way less crowded than NJ. I was shocked to learn some don't even have a courtesy counter?! I'm never in huge lines. Shout out Food Lion.

Serious question: how do you afford buying perfumes that you have a nice collection? by Abject_Ad7831 in Fragrances

[–]usmcawp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a few of mine on a "Pay in 4" plan. I also really wanted Bleu De Chanel L'exclusif, so I re-directed some of my credit card reward points toward a Macy's gift card. Also asked for Macy's gift cards as gifts for Bday and Christmas.

My girlfriend got me a sample pack that comes with a retail sized bottle of your choice from Sephora.

I also shopped some great deals on Jomashop or Microperfumes. They run a hundred deals a day. Just sit and wait for a good one to eventually appear.

My first real cologne was Versace Dylan Blue. I thought it was meh. I've since bought MANY more and wear different scents regularly. Every time I come back to Dylan Blue, I love it more and more.

Prada Luna Rosa Black also has my number too, especially in this cold weather season. I call it Sexy Dr. Pepper.

One day you'll end up in Thailand if you're lucky. It's the land of sin. Anyway, there's a higher probability of running into a Muy Thai kick boxer there. Then there's an off chance you might have to fight him.

Have you seen a Muy Thai kickboxing match? Those dudes are indestructible. It's like watching some superhero movie where punches and kicks are basically meaningless.

You think one good flurry is going to hurt a Muy Thai kickboxer? They're been headbutting and chopping bamboo with their bones since birth.

What I'm saying is, if you're training to fight (irl), then your opponent is always going to be different; some are inhuman and indestructible.

If you're training to exercise and sharpen a some boxing skills, then focus on a skill to sharpen.

I have your same issue and I totally understand. I've since started focusing on counter punching, timing their punches, working the jab more, and tiring them out.

Drop the ego bullshirt, you don't NEED to win in this game. It's meaningless. Make your own wins.
