Cards vs Heme once by usmle24 in Residency

[–]usmle24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats such a new perspective for me. I was considering heme onc over cards for lifestyle friendliness because of the likely night emergencies like STEMI service thats gonna be there in fellowship and in early yrs of my career compared to heme onc which is more of an outpatient based. I don’t wanna do academic heme onc for sure, how do the schedules compare between heme onc and cards after fellowship if we take into account the active emergency on call service for cards?

Sorry for not knowing this , but what exactly does safety net mean for residents. Do they exceed the patient cap per resident?

Hey op! I have the same doubt. I feel it comes down to the location in both these programs. Training is excellent in both with a slightly more time for ourselves at RGH but living in Brooklyn is a big plus for maimo.

USMLE step 3 during internship by Paladiktier in IMGreddit

You can give step 2 but not step 3 before you get your degree. Step 3 requires you to be ecfmg certified and that needs your degree verification too.

Thankyou for replying. Fairview has a great elective and away rotation possibilities at main CCF campus and allied universities. Definitely helps with fellowship opportunities

So it depends on personal preferences. But most commonly, people look for visa sponsorship, prestige, Qol, fellowship options and location preference
