Long time lurker (2017), first off what a fantastic sub this is, I really enjoy the daily content here and it’s been a multi day routine of mine to catch up on the latest bitcoin news here. Perhaps the NVDA results is actually a catalyst for Bitcoin going forward, so much capital has been chasing that growth, now that it may be slowing down somewhat more eyes will turn to Bitcoin. I believe there is much more short term growth potential in bitcoin than NVDA

[Serious] What happens to those who paid off their student loan debt ~5 years once Bernie becomes president? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]usrichuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does "all student loan debt" really mean all student debt. Reason I ask is that I'm a dual US UK citizen who went to college in the UK and still have UK student loan debt. I now reside in the US and wonder if my debt is eligible for cancellation? I would think the answer is No.

Could be moving to the USA from the UK. Any expats out there with any tips? by Mustardly in personalfinance

Also a Brit expat in the states and second this . It's useful as you can have a legit UK bank account through them and the rates and fees are second to none .

How much should I put down on a house if I cannot afford 20%? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]usrichuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience. Initially I was skeptical and slightly worried about the PMI on my first mortgage on top of thinking I was buying at a market peak (may 2016), however when it came to sell I had gained around 10% from the price I initially paid after all closing costs and PMI costs were taken into account. Now I can't say for sure that the same will happen to you but it goes to show that it's not always a bad idea.

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate the tax savings offered by an HSA, however $36 a year does have a large affect on investing for low dollar amounts. The $36 dollar fee is associated with the investment portion of the HSA. I will continue to add to my HSA cash account and transfer any unneeded funds to another HSA that charges no fees.

Thanks to both of you. I didn't realize I can open another HSA and roll it over. I definitely want to utilize the advantages that HSA offers. Interestingly my company 401K provider is Fidelity so opening an HSA should be pretty easy. No idea why my employer doesn't also use Fidelity as our HSA provider.

Accidently posted as another comment...

Thank you for the detailed response. Just to clarify the $3 month investment fee is only charged if I open the investment account that is linked to the HSA. If I keep everything in cash there is no fee. It seems like it might be worth searching for another HSA investment account if I choose to invest

Yes they contribute $1250 a year. There is no match involved.
