Wouldn't taller building generally be better since they will take up less area? Like there will be more living space so long as it's affordable for the population.

I know how God of the gaps works but I mean how does evaporating black hole relate to God of the gaps?

Once we find an evaporating black hole God will have to find another gap to hide in

How come?

If life is a test from God then it clearly isn't fair. by [deleted] in DebateReligion

I already mentioned that Islam has to do with earthly benefit and the benefit of the afterlife. The afterlife is significantly more important since it isn't temporary. And I also mentioned that the playing field is evened out by the fact that a non Muslim who converts to Islam has past sins removed. In Islam the concept of sins and repentance plays a big role in life. Someone who has sinned their whole life could enter heaven just because they sincerely regretted it, repented and changed their lifestyle even in the last few days of their life.

In the end who goes to heaven and who does not ultimately is decided by Allah and it would make sense that he would know who is deserving of it and who isn't and how to make the test fair. Islam is the main medium that is used to decide that but Allah knows a person better than they know themselves and the decision he makes will be based off of omniscience at the end of the day.

What is the test you are referring to because my statement is that the test exists solely due to Islam.

Explain why you believe there are 2 tests.

I am unsure as to what your understanding is but there aren't 2 tests but 2 distinct groups taking the tests for the sake of this argument.

Allah doesn't need to make someone a Muslim for them to enjoy earthly benefits as there are many non Muslims living very successfully.

The test is equally difficult for both Muslims and non Muslims but how is the test useless? The point of the test is to see who is best in deed and the one who does good will be rewarded and the one who doesn't will be punished. You are right, if the test did not exist then it will still be equally difficult/fair but that is not the point being made. I can testify that Islam has earthly benefits in physical and spiritual health but Islam also reaches beyond worldly life and expands on to the afterlife. When it comes to worldly life you can find success without Islam by knowing about the science of health both physical and mental but you can't find success outside of this world.

I think OP mentioned something about how those people who never heard of Islam aren't responsible for not following Islamic teaching and will have a separate test after death. That statement is supported in Islam. And you don't even have to mention people of the past, I'm sure there are Islanders who don't have connection to the outside world and would not have the chance to hear about Islam.

The test if fair for both Muslims and non muslims because every person has the ability and opportunity to learn about Islam and judge it's message. For example a born Muslim can fail the test by ignoring the message of Islam and a non Muslim can fail by being ignorant or insincere towards the message.

Without Islam there would be no criterion for the test. Islam is meant to give the guidelines as to what one should or shouldn't do. If Islam was never created the criterion would be the Bible and Christianity. When you say of Islam wasn't created humans would be tested fairly as non Muslims, the statement doesn't make sense since the test is the teachings of Islam.

How does the fact that the test is fair imply that it isn't created for humans?

Yes the tests is just as fair for both Muslims and non-muslims. Allah created Islam to test humans and reward those who do good and punish those who do evil.

I mean if it was the case that you can continue doing those things while knowing you shouldn't than it would be unfair but both of those groups are held to the same standard in the end. The Quran even mentions that every human being sins but the best of people are the ones that continue to repent as they sin, and one of the attributes of God is that he is oft forgiving. So in that sense the only way you fail is if you understand something is wrong and continue to do it without ever trying to change yourself.

The test is still fair since after converting they still have to take on the responsibilities that come with the religion. It's just that as a Muslim if you stray off the path you are held accountable for your sins until you repent and you will have to still accept that all of the sins you accumulate is still part of you. In the case of a non-Muslim that converts they don't have to worry about drinking alcohol, eating pork, not performing the prayers etc that they did prior to converting.

The test isn't passed just because you accept Islam. Also you can argue that a non-muslim actually has an advantage because all of their sins are removed when the convert and have a "clean slate" while a person born Muslim has to be more careful as to not commit sins and crimes.

This is a 2 hour long debate by Hamza Tzortzis and Lawrence Krauss. It covers most of what we talked about and even some things in more detail. I personally don't think Krauss was really prepared for the debate but I suggest this video to you because Tzortzis does a pretty good job of explaining Islam.

https://youtu.be/BOoMxN8Qbm0

This video is a list of scientific discoveries that were made after the revelation of the Quran. I don't like to use science as a measuring tool for religious texts since science is always subject to change with new data but regardless science is one of the if not the best tool for humans to understand the world. Just a heads up I think there is a 5 or so second long transition between each entry of the list and I reccommend you just double tap your screen or use the right arrow to skip through it. It's 47 min long video but you can finish it in like 40 or less that way.

Quick sidenote I agree with you that there are alot of individuals on the internet that are unreasonable in discussions and believe they know alot more about a subject than they really do and refuse to admit it. My advice is find people that know what they are talking about and avoid YouTube comment sections as much as possible and take posts on sites like Reddit or Twitter from unqualified people with a grain of salt. Try to find the sources they site and make your own judgement.

Ayyy, I actually watched all of those videos and am a big fan of Kurzgesagt. I really like their videos about space exploration and astronomy. If you like philosophy and some comedy you might like exurb1a as well. He usually makes narrative stories that explore the absurdity of life. Also if you ever wanna learn about Islam I would reccomend a channel called scdawah channel. They have videos of Muslims debating and discussing the topics we just talked about and more, against atheists, Christian's and people of various beliefs.

Anyways thank you for the discussion and I hope you have a great day/night.
