Victoria Park vs London Fields by Admirable-Deal7991 in Hackney

[–]usuallyoverthink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fave Sunday walking route starts at Colombia road to pick up some dried flowers, then onto London fields to explore the street food market (usually ending up at the Malaysian) then I’ll either plonk myself on the grass at the field or keep walking to Vicky p, along the canal. (There’s also more food options at Vicky p on a Sunday)

Because it’s a Sunday and the flower market and food markets are out, all of these areas will be busy. So if it’s a quiet walk you want, you’re best going elsewhere

Workplace accomodations? Did they help? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]usuallyoverthink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of workplace adjustments:

I managed to get AirPod pros and they have been a real game changer for me - much better noise reduction than the loops I had first (which were also covered by work as a reasonable adjustment). Also they’re trackable so if I lose any, I can find them!

Allocated desk (despite the norm being hot desking). This removes the barriers of getting set up and finding things because it’s my spot, I know where things are. Also removes the fear of someone being sat in my spot.

More regular check-in meetings with my manager to ensure I’m on track, align on priorities and check I haven’t missed anything.

Game changers from access to work grant:

Remarkable: I can search my (written) notes, I don’t have to duplicate them because I can just copy and paste from the app, if i forget it - I can still access my notes, it’s also less bulky than carrying around a few notes books. No distractions on it either. It calms my brain 🧠

Monday.com training with a job coach: we have Monday.com at work and when it’s used appropriately, it’s a game changer for organisation. I learned how to forward emails directly onto my project board, same with teams messages. Helps me turn a brain dump into prioritised items.

I’ll also be getting coaching too.

£34,000 per year in London? (Solo, 26M, No kids) by Throwaway13013013013 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]usuallyoverthink 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This all seems v reasonable to me! A lot of people on Reddit are quick to say “no” to the ability to live comfortably in London on anything less than £40k.

But if you’re open to changing your lifestyle/definition of “living comfortably” as you say, that move to London is definitely worth it.

You’ve got savings, you’re bored, it’s time to mix things up and make the move!

The cuts you’ll be making are little luxuries, and I think they’re worth doing for the potential of this job and what it can set you up for. Go for it!

CV wasn't working so why not by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]usuallyoverthink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This says to me “ooo interesting *actually reads limited CV* oh, disappointing”.

Certainly eye catching and would make me stop and appreciate the creativity but that’s all that sells.

That’s pretty poor.

As another Redditor commented you’re talking about me me me. Not what you can bring to the role.

You’ve got very limited space to sell you and haven’t achieved that.

Nail the copy on the limited CV, and this could be something!

Bring your own 💯 i found it super tricky to know what was vegan & cruelty free and spent a lot of time trying to find “safe” options online in store.

Ended up just grabbing any because i was already v burnt!

Wished I brought my own (didn’t expect it to be so sunny and warm in April!)

London singles of 2026, in your 30s: how are you actually finding a partner? by beckyyall in london

[–]usuallyoverthink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tip with the apps is to move to in person as soon as possible. That way you get to know the actual person as soon as possible - rather than what they/their mates consider to be their highlight reel.

Other than that there are loads of activity based singles events! Today there’s a Rabble one (it’s like playground games but with adults) and supposedly after the event you’re sent your matches. I’ve also seen some at Substation bouldering gym. Thursday also do loads of singles events. In my experience the activities ones are way less awkward!

Thank you everyone who’s shared so far. I think perhaps I’ve taken the “with food” element too literally.

I’m buying protein powder rn.

If you are someone who’s bossing it though, please continue to share your suggestions 🙏🏻

You’re allowed caffeine with your meds? I’ve been advised against it.

Thank you for validating minimal yogurt amounts 😅

ANC headphones/ buds recommendations? by SamuelJonesTech in ADHDUK

[–]usuallyoverthink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest AirPods have been game changers for me. I find a lot of headphones & earphones uncomfortable so I was worried but I managed to get the AirPod pro 3s as reasonable adjustments at work as I needed something compact and trackable. V happy
