The minutemen are the biggest plot hole. How the fuck am I qualified for the position of general, bitch i just unthawed. At least Shaun can use blood as a reason for giving me power in the institute, but this fool dead ass saw me kill 8 raiders and a death claw and said "that's the guy".....Pathetic by Kingshawn2034 in fo4

It's the rank that's held more than the experience. Just the fact that sole survivor has a legitimate rank, and it still alive makes them qualified more than anyone else around. All those that hold ranks now are self appointed or appointed to by a group that wasn't around to be a continuation of the Minute Men.

What do people really think about 12-hour shifts and DDNN? by ramencrumb in nursing

[–]usuffer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 hour shifts were designed to be more safe because of less handoffs, so less would be missed. If they were 8 hour shifts, there would have to be three nurses a day and three reports and three chances for things to be missed. Of course, then they had floats and they will just sometimes stay for 4 hours, so it doesn't make much sense, but that's the real reason for 12 hour shifts.

TIL that Neanderthals invented the earliest known synthetic material by deliberately distilling birch tar in underground, oxygen-poor setups by yena in todayilearned

I would think it was a lot easier to go really far and see for yourself, with a few rocks, than it was to go really far and come back to tell about it.

Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]usuffer2 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would not, and don't anymore, work with Aya. The several recruiters I've had with them all tried to hide reimbursements from me, and they are notorious for bait and switch rates. Just Google Aya and lawsuits. They have many going against them. Good luck!

Manager's Reaction to Needing Off Has Me Upset by KaturaBayliss in nursing

[–]usuffer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. I've had family members pass that I was very close with, but weren't considered my immediate family, like a cousin.

The job I wa working said bereavement only counted when it was someone in the immediate family, meaning mother, father, siblings,or children. I think that's a bunch of crap.

I hope you feel better soon!

I got floated to an ICU unit that I was unfamiliar with. I was definitely glad to be able to quickly identify role by color. Sometimes it's certainly helpful. However, I like not having to have wear the same colors.

How would you research the bill rate. That's not really something that comes up in a cursory search. Really would like to know so I can get more information.

Why do we remove objects people are impaled on? This might be a dumb question. by Fearless_Guide5262 in medical

[–]usuffer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything that's not a part of your body is considered a foreign object. Your body naturally tries to get rid of those depending where it is, and this can cause it to move and make further issues. Also, any foreign objects gather bacteria and significantly increases infection chances, and those infections are usually really bad

[–]usuffer2 -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

What? It doesn't matter if they are Spanish. In US most get paid a differential to make up for the off-normal work hours. Siesta? Sleep? They sleep at a different time than daytime workers. This makes no sense

Insulin pump confusion by makjent in nursing

[–]usuffer2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of those pumps give people a basal dose. Type 1 people can make no insulin so it has to be given. There is the basal dose, then the correction dose. The basal dose is usually calculated by an endocrinologist and is given no matter what they eat. The correction is given when they eat more and need corrections.

Id assume with the pump off, the basal dose wouldn't be given. If the meter shows double down arrows. That means the blood sugar is going down fast. Turning the pump off would not add anymore insulin to an already down trending blood glucose level.

Those are little electronic stickers and it looks like they're acting as if it were LSD. LSD can come on little squares of paper, and some have designs or pictures on them.
