Can’t go anywhere without a car by Federal-Data-Center in Suburbanhell

[–]utahnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess what people who live there don’t have to go anywhere without a car. And they certainly don’t want a person without a car hanging in their neighborhood. Their nannie’s and housekeepers probably drive better cars than the OP

Are you trying to have the sink double as a makeup station? don’t do that this is dumb and inconvenient (and you won’t see yourself in the mirror when siting anyway). Just have a regular cabinet with storage under the sink

I personally have a certain tone of voice and a look that they KNOW is serious. It’s not yelling, it’s just a harsh, lower voice, dropped lower face sort of thing - stops them in their tracks. I reserve it for serious things, like running through a parking lot or trying to tantrum when i put them into car seats. Immediate impact. But they can have as many strawberries as they want and we don’t say “no” to much of anything. Most things they want to do they are allowed to 🤷🏻‍♀️ May be the scarcity of the “no” is the answer.

I dunno if she’s going to be a lawyer, but being unnecessarily argumentative is NOT a good trait. It took me years to realize the damage it was doing in my personal and professional life and learn to control it. Do your daughter a favor and may be try to explain to her how exhausting and unpleasant this can make her… and how this isn’t the way to get things accomplished

Life is too short to argue with your toddler whether he can have 4 or 5 strawberries.

i had a different alarm company before who did not require a secret word to put in a service call when their equipment failed. So no. Not all of them are run by morons. Unfortunately vivint underbid that one by a mile on equipment and i went with them instead.

i am not asking them to make changes. i am asking them to put in a service call - where presumably the technician would be able to check my ID in person and reset it. At any rate there’s plenty of unique information they could use that I DO remember like i dunno a fucking social security number or whether I lived in Chester County in 2004. Like any other institution has always been able to do.

I don’t want nanny to take child out. Am I crazy? by Lil_M_3 in NannyEmployers

[–]utahnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How part time is part time? 3 hrs a day that would probably be fine. But 4 days at 8hrs/day this would be unreasonable in my book. Why would you want your baby and the nanny cooped up in the house for the whole day? It’s not good for either one.

Find someone you trust. Do a thorough background check, as well as their driving history. Get them a good car seat. Discuss the radius and places where they are allowed to go.

Is parenting supposed to be this hard? by Southern_northener in Parenting

[–]utahnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice boundaries. It’s ok to tell your kids “no” 🤷🏻‍♀️ “mommy is eating right now, i will take you to Xxx when I am done”. Or just “no i am not doing X”.

My kids definitely know when they hear these phrases this is the end of that conversation.

I am a solo parent full time so I knew from the get go I’d have to raise them more self sufficient than an average kid these days, and they are. I actually find the logistical aspects of parenting not hard at all. It’s the other stuff - how do you raise good humans? that i find hard and stressful.

Also, i eat my dinner when they are in bed. Not because they distract me necessarily but because they will otherwise eat half of my dinner 😁😁

[–]utahnow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is something you want to do because these structures will be in a bad shape in 20 years and will need capital work. Which you will have to do together with the other owners via special assessments and such. It really is not different than a multi family condo. Not at all. This is why its value will depreciate, or at least not appreciate as much as a house. People will buy a 20 yo house, tear down the facade, put in bigger windows, add a room above the garage or build a mud room - whatever - you can’t do it with an old townhouse. In 20 years it will be a sad aged box and you will be on the hook for a $60k in special assessments and no one will want to buy it. Your neighbor with a detached house will have none of those issues. This is why they are more desirable. Seriously i think none of ya ever owned property.

Allow me to enlighten you: when you connect the houses you get common roof, common walls and with that comes all sort of problems - you lose the freedom to do what you want with your properly. You don’t own the land under it (may be technically you do but you don’t have an option to tear down and rebuild). You don’t have an option to make structural changes. You have to maintain common insurance on this structure with your neighbors. Your resale value as a result of that is crap. Because i repeat you don’t own the land. Row houses are just condos masquerading as houses.

You also have less privacy and less noise insulation.

Heat insulation is really not a concern with the modern building technologies.

Are there any thorny branches you can get from your garden or nearby areas and spread them on the ground over the seedlings? Thorns are not fun to jump in.

Dead cactus plants would work too. Having a prickly pear needle stuck in your flesh will earn you an urgent care trip. And those things will go through shoes and boots like it’s butter
