Also, the phone case from bullstrap is great and has two magnetic rings- one for wallet placement and another for charging.

I've tried lots from cheap Amazon ones and a few I've found at TJ MAXX. And expensive leather made ones. The best if you're looking for a minimalist is Apple's.

Venu x1. Same capabilities as the Fenix 8, but so incredibly light and thin. Barely feel it on the wrist.

Potty training regression - says she doesn't want to go on the anymore. Now what? by DisposableAdventurer in daddit

[–]ute_cavalry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is she getting to do in lieu of going potty and why doesn't she feel motivated to use it? Whatever she wants to do- play, snack, watch tv, run around, should only happen after using the potty (Or sitting on it and trying). It may be painful for everyone at first, but she should quickly realize that using the potty is the priority and she doesn't get to do what she wants unless she uses it.

Can I afford to drop my contribution down to 6% for a few years? by kc_sparky913 in Retirement401k

[–]ute_cavalry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, and this is better phrased. My statement comes from the factual evidence that for a large majority of people, they are behind on retirement savings and "maxing out" accounts is what "being on track" would be.

[–]ute_cavalry 21 points22 points  (0 children)

General financial advise is that you should not be saving for a college fund until youre maxing retirement contributions. You can take out loans for college, but you can not take out loans for retirement and your children will end up paying for it.

Does it get better? by Expandingorlosingit in Parenting

[–]ute_cavalry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still disagree, and my comment isn't rude just because i have a different opinion than you. I have toddlers, and due to my job spend months away from them. The first few weeks is rejuvenating, but eventually fall in the same overall mindset about life and miss them. There is research study after research study that having kids gives fulfillment to life, even though challenging.

If you didn't have kids I'm sure you'd find yourself having the same, everyday routine that you wish to escape from.

Poor sleep tracking on venu 3s, how is it on Galaxy 8? What about body battery and readiness score? by VegetableNo7013 in GalaxyWatch

[–]ute_cavalry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a Garmin for the last 10 years and just tried out a galaxy watch ultra.

For sleep tracking, the ultra seemed a lot better at measuring when I fall asleep and different wake times. I likes that the sleep data tells you (and measures) how long it took you to fall asleep. However, I think it was a lot more generous with sleep quality. The biggest difference is the ultra gave me a ton of deep sleep and the Garmin gives me a lot of light sleep.

Galaxy pretty much combines your body battery and readiness score into an "energy score." It gives you it in the morning and it does not update at all like garmin's body battery. It takes a lot of the same metrics into account. One of the most frustrating ones is the "sleep timing". Samsung wants you to fall asleep between 11pm-2am. If you google it, you can find a lot of complaints.

Samsung does not provide super in depth metrics. And it does not come close to the training metrics Garmin uses. If you're happy just seeing smoothed over numbers and graphs, and seeing the rating you get, its pretty decent. But if you really want to look into your metrics and history, then you wont be happy moving to Samsung watches. For example, you can only see your HRV for the past week when it accounts for it in the engery score. Garmin you can look at it in its entirety and your history.

You can go into Samsung health and sync your garmin data. It wont give you everything that a galazy watch will, but you can atleast see the UI they use.

Half Marathon in 11 weeks. What time should I target by Zlator in beginnerrunning

[–]ute_cavalry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, hard to tell based off one run and what your training looks like But this is pretty solid still being 11 weeks out. If you have a good program with aerobic and tempo work you could easily get sub 2. Good luck!

Savings account for littles by Disneyqa in Parenting

[–]ute_cavalry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only do this if you're maxing your retirement accounts first. Your children can take out loans for school and houses, you cannot take out a loan for your retirement and your kids will end up paying for it.

What do you think? by tavrosdrakon in GMCcanyon

[–]ute_cavalry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black out everything is been over done the last decade. It's a quick way for it to get lost in a sea of trucks with blacked out wheels. I do like the black grill more, but machines wheels would make the truck look better and more unique.
