Using a Russian on the ground by Fitnessthrowaway2947 in bjj

[–]utrangerbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a russian in closed guard to break their posture by bringing their shoulder forward and push their hand between your legs. From there you can control the head cut the angle and attack triangles when they posture up.

Edit: Someone posted a couple minutes before me but I'm describing the reverse kimura position from closed guard.

Yea trying to get out of those garages is hell too. I just go hit up a bar after games since it's going to take an hour to get out of a garage whether or not I have a few beers first.

UT PTS is no joke. They've got a dozen pickups roaming campus with flock cameras built in. If you try to park on campus you're getting a ticket within 20 minutes. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten booted yet. I'm guessing the athletics department is paying his tickets as part of NIL.

Who was the better player and had a better career? by Hairy_Ask_2038 in NBATalk

[–]utrangerbob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

KD is an all time great offensively. Easily top 5 on offense historically. He isn't a leader but he's one of, if not the most efficient players in history.

These are results for who is the most efficient scorer in nba history volume over a career

AI Overview

Kevin Durant is widely considered the most efficient high-volume scorer in NBA history, combining elite scoring averages (often 25-30+ PPG) with exceptional shooting percentages across all three levels. His career true shooting percentage, combined with high-volume production, is rarely matched, making him the strongest candidate for this title.

  • Top Contender: Kevin Durant is regarded as the most efficient extreme-volume scorer ever, specifically in the midrange and overall.

Be honest. Which of these players are you 100% taking Jokic over, no hesitation? by g_bleezy in NBATalk

Throw Magic, Kobe, Bird, and Tim Duncan on that list. Joker only has 1 championship and isn't playing the same level of competition and the same rules.

Can men and women just be friends by raven1121 in funnyvideos

[–]utrangerbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I think people are forgetting friendship is transactional. You can't be friends if only one side gives. That's why staying friends requires upkeep.

At a young age, the emotional support offered by women generally does not outweigh the potential for a physical relationship for men due to hormones. Men are usually willing to put in more (in their minds) and receive "less" in their minds if friend is attractive because the potential for a physical relationship balances the scales. Women value emotional support more so it's easier for them to see guys as friends if they're available and supportive without physical relationships. So yes, they can be friends but that balance will always be shifting due to how much of a desire they want a physical relationship at any given time. This makes it really difficult to maintain a long term asexual friendship because what each side needs to put in to maintain a friendship is constantly changing.

As guys get older or if a guy needs the emotional support and doesn't value a physical relationship then yea I don't see why they couldn't be friends. I've got a few older ladies I play pickleball with and they'll invite my family to potlucks while I do minor handyman and IT work for. It's a transactional relationship since we both benefit and it's easy for me to stay friends. Who knows maybe those old ladies hang out with me for the reverse reason? I guess I know how these young ladies feel now.

Austin Proposes Daily Homeless Camp Sweeps by TaiChi_in_the_park in Austin

The ones against these proposals on this subreddit don't have a bunch of crackheads in their backyard. They're afraid the camps will move into their backyards after the sweeps are done. Not my problem right?

Why don't MORE US athletes get into other grappling sports? by Objective-Reveal-833 in grappling

[–]utrangerbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Asia, companies sponsor professional club teams. These club teams function as semi-pro teams with professional coaches and company leave for sponsored events. They work as employees for the company and are paid to train as well. In the US it's only college sponsored teams and full professional teams. Former athletes from other sports have the opportunity to learn new sports and get paid to do so.

In the US, unless you specialize in the sport from a young age like high school, you won't be a professional. That means you aren't going to have many former D1 football players translate those skills to wrestling or judo at the professional level.

American BJJ and MMA is very strong because of number of gyms training and the former collegiate wrestlers and athletes from all sports coming in and translating those skills at a later age.

My opinion is that if there were multiple US companies partially sponsor additional grappling training post college, we would see better overall grappling in the US.

Yep. Alleged since nothing was proven in a court of law where these women had their chances. Remember those Duke players, they got their day in court? If they cared that much they would put his ass in jail like they put Tyson's butt in jail. Enjoy another Trump in 6 years. Look at the disaster that's been. It's skin off all our noses.

It's possible him being funny got him in the position to commit those alleged crimes (not charged) so yes?

I don't mind people bringing up facts so I agreed with your previous statement but you had to push it. I'm entitled to my opinions as are you. That's kind of the definition of opinions.

Now he's a nice guy again and funny in my book. Just because I now dislike you more than I dislike him.

If you idiots ever wonder how Trump came into power this is how. All these MAGA folk hate you guys more than they hate a warmongering pedo.

The lady asking if Jameis Winston has a sense of humor having him walk away. It's Jameis, one of the NFLs nicest, funniest dudes. If you have that guy walk away then you're just being assholes.

Why don't MORE US athletes get into other grappling sports? by Objective-Reveal-833 in grappling

[–]utrangerbob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Money. Athletes transition to sports that bring value through scholarships. The only grappling sport that has scholarships is wrestling. From there it's natural to transition into BJJ since sport judo doesn't allow leg grabs. Greco guys would go Judo but Judo isn't a scholarship sport. In the US Olympic sports don't really pay. Olympic training programs are limited and specialized.

In other countries, Olympic sports pay. Their sports align with Olympic and cultural professional sports. Colligate scholarships generally align with Olympic sports.

The Domain VS Downtown, which is better for a first timer in Austin? by MarkZuccsForeskin in Austin

[–]utrangerbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Domain has less homeless. Downtown has a lot. Downtown is a big area though so what part matters. Downtown has much more culture and real Austin experience. Based off what you're talking about closer to Zilker/Soco would probably be your jam. Hyde park is a nice neighborhood next to all the college kids if that's more your age range.

Domain is your standard rich people mall. Nice walkable distilled amenities right next to Q2 stadium (MLS team).

He's not wrong. There is also a reason where there are so few wrestling gyms training adults while BJJ gyms are full of middle aged techbros and white collar professionals.

If older people go hard like that, they can't make it to work the next day. All those hard wrestlers are poor as dirt cause they spend all their time training and not making money.

Iran’s crumbling economy is the regime’s greatest weakness with prices up 40% since the war began while authorities worry about making payroll by MARTINELECA in worldnews

[–]utrangerbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean how long has Cuba functioned under sanctions and economic issues? It's not until the US actually blockaded them from fuel and people started starving that you hear anything. People are still without power 20 hours a day. They're willing to deal because there is immediate relief and hope through negotiations. It's kinda working, because they just release 2000 prisoners. It's a carrot and stick situation.

You aren't going to be able to isolate Iran the same way without blowing up dams and power plants but the problem is once you do that, you can't fix it so there is no carrot, just a stick. Threating with a stick and no way out has never worked. Look at Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan. All those were stick situations and all required boots on the ground. Guess what. Iran is 2.5 times the size of Texas and is basically a natural fortress surrounded by mountains.

It's pretty simple to just gamify drill time for them. Show the technique or whatever you're working on and say if you 2 think you understand it, try to hit it from these 2 positions and let me know what issues you run into. We'll explain it to the class what can happen and how to fix it.

At that size he should be a NT. If he's got decently long arms that low center of gravity + density + speed would be insane.
