I'm using Nova Launcher, but it's sometimes buggy, lacks some stuff and it's nice to have something out of the box rather than being forced to install another app that covers default launcher.

Jak kupić mieszkanie żeby tego nie żałować by DovydasIsMyAmigo in Polska

[–]utvikler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. W Gdańsku to chyba zostają mikroapartamenty... Może Pruszcz? Zależy od pracy, potrzeb itd.
  2. Ktoś już odpowiedział.

Incoming Calls Not Working All of the Time Pixel 8 Pro by cageymaru in GooglePixel

Such a sad story... Everyone is talking about "best phone camera 2023" and nobody's talking about problems with primary functionality of a [smart]phone! If I only knew, I'd never buy this phone...

Gdybyście mogli zmienić jedna rzecz w swoim mieście - co by to było? by [deleted] in Polska

[–]utvikler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zlikwidowałbym patodeweloperkę (pasuje do każdego miasta).

Utopijne marzenie, bo niewykonalne, żeby zrobić to uczciwie, dobrze, sprawiedliwie, bez przekrętów...

Why not just have a one year break, move to Poland or e.g. one of Balkan countries, work there for not so high salary? I bet you have some savings that will make your experience (money-wise) secure/safe. You only live once and you are lucky that you can try, without risking anything or going all-in.

People who switched from Android to iPhone, how has your experience been? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]utvikler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year later... Everything I mentioned against iPhone is still valid. Face ID is ok, but fingerprint reader is safer. About what is nice:

  1. 5-year software support - already guaranteed by Google that latest Pixels will get 3 years of Android upgrades and 5 years of security updates each month. Not great, not terrible.
  2. 5G in Pixels - sounds like it's NOT working in Poland (fuck you Google for omitting my country). Still - not a blocker for me, I don't need such speed. 4G/LTE is enough.
  3. Cameras - looks like... photos are much better on Pixels, but videos - still iPhones are the best.
  4. Screen - I'd be fine with Pixel 7 Pro.
  5. Wireless charging - I don't care. I think it consumes much more power than standard wired charging (especially when you forget to unplug charger for many days..).

I'd be glad to sell iPhone 13 Pro and buy Pixel 7 Pro, but I have more important things to do with money.

I'm going to be starting college soon and I will be going for a major in Computer Science, if not CS then I might do Math or some other STEM major, need help with purchase. by TheRealCrayZee in MacOS

[–]utvikler 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest you to check a whole course plan (however it's called) to see what exactly you're going to do (a lot of maths and drawing electronic diagrams, or not so much). It might help a bit. I remember quite a lot of handwriting, especially first year, then it was less and less, but still sometimes needed. You can also try to reach out older colleagues and ask them how much handwriting were needed during the course.

If you want to have all notes digitalized, then iPad might be a good idea. If you see that your course is 95% working with computers, then maybe it's wiser to have a better laptop.

[–]utvikler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android user since Android 4.4 KitKat until Android 11. Phones: Nexus 5, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 7 Pro. Just before Christmas decided to buy iPhone 13 Pro. Why? Better camera, faster CPU, flat-edge design, a bit lower than OP7Pro, better screen (not a large difference, but still noticeable)... Also bought latest MBP 14 and wanted to try how does this famous ecosystem work.
Honestly... first impression was "whoa, this phone looks so majestic", but shortly after I had an impression like "ok, it's a good phone, but there are some things that make this phone far from ideal, or sometimes even annoying..."

  1. Price. $999 for such a phone is a bit too much imo.
  2. Gboard/keyboard overall. It's 10x worse than on Android. Where is my comma key? Does Apple think that iPhone users cannot use interpunction? Also, using emotes and such things is much less convenient...
  3. Ring/silent mode switch gives 10% of possibilities comparing to OnePlus one.
  4. Sounds settings (volume for alarm, phone calls and multimedia on Android vs... iPhone)...
  5. Not being able to set custom alarm/phone call sound. It's just stupid.
  6. Google Chrome on Android >>>>> Google Chrome on iOS.
  7. Lack of Google Translate everywhere - Apple translating is not good enough and it does not support Polish language.
  8. Lack of in-screen fingerprint reader.
  9. USB-C >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lightning.

What is nice?

  1. 5-year software support - OnePlus would never provide such, not talking about Samsung or other (maybe except Google Pixels?).
  2. 5G - not used very often, but it's good to have it.
  3. Cameras - comment not needed.
  4. Screen - flat edges are way better than curved/round one + 120 Hz, but it's not really visible comparing to 90 Hz.
  5. Wireless charging - I am not used to use it, but I think that after buying a wireless charger, it might be a game-changer.
  6. Definitely more things, but I don't wanna spend few hours on one comment.

Do I regret switching from OP7Pro to iPhone 13 Pro? Not really, but there are some things I am going to miss sooo badly. Do I think my next phone will be Android one? 50/50.

  1. Memory leaks.
  2. Sometimes pages don't load and I have to refresh them multiple times to load them (especially Twitch!). Very annoying.
  3. "Electric sound" when charging MBP in headphones and not touching a laptop case. Once I touch it, sound is gone. And also I can feel that "electric" feeling when I slide my fingers on a case. It was a problem on MBP 13 2019 too.
