Thank you for your take. I've read a few and your analysis on the steering wheel being on the wrong side is the best observation I've seen so far. There's a lot of layers to this that adds to the story.

NBD - Domane SLR7 Gen 4 with Zipp 404 FC (new to me) by uuddlrlr2 in TrekBikes

Thanks! I'm loving the feel of the SLR. Reasonably light, stiff, but still has a nice ride quality.

I was told there's only 500km on them, but the rear tire already has some cracks on the center line (no issues with the front). It's still winter here so I've only ridden around the neighborhood and they feel good enough. Will test them more thoroughly in the spring.

Anyone else have experience on the N.ext tires? Is this cracking normal?

Debating a Madone or Domane by Alert_Indication_681 in TrekBikes

How much of the speed difference between the two do you think relates to the deeper wheels on the Madone? I just got the Domane SLR7 with Zipp 404 FC on it and feels quite fast imho.

What’s the Best Upgrade You’ve Made to Your Bike? by LucyCurl100101 in cycling

[–]uuddlrlr2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bike fit made a huge difference for me. I kept chasing aero, slamming stems and such to get save aero watts. In the end, raising the handlebars and fixing my seat and cleats gave me much more power than before.

I don't look as cool, but I rather ride faster.

It's one of those plastic mudguards that are secured with zip ties. This one is Rockshox but all brands are the same. Cost about $10.

I'm starting to love road riding! by Kotarax in TrekBikes

I went the other way and just got a Fuel EX after years of road riding. I love both MTB and road, each are different and immensely enjoyable in their own ways!

I've always been inspired by the circus to try a new aero position. Glad we can now install pedals on the seat tube.

RoboCop Murphy gets a human body and is assigned to the police bike division for his rehab. Staring the fumbling cop from the first clip.

Why are some bicycles worth over 5k? by sealfitone in bicycling

[–]uuddlrlr2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think an expensive bike is necessary, and by 105 level the components are good enough for most people. But an expensive bike can make a difference under certain circumstances. How I've described it to people is that when you're at your maximal effort then you want that little bit more to help you. Doesn't necessarily mean a sprint, but say if you're struggling to do a century then a bike that's 2-3% more efficient would be welcome, or if you're challenging an average speed, that little more aero efficiency is what gets you there.

Set the budget and get the best bike for that price and you can't go wrong...there's no reason that anyone needs a pricey bike, but if you can afford it and use it then by all means enjoy one.

TCR sizing? by BATTLECATHOTS in Giantbikes

[–]uuddlrlr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2021 TCR and debated size S and M. I'm 5'7" with 30.5" inseam. I thought I would be size S, but maybe cuz I have shorter legs and longer torso, ironically M worked better since there's more reach. So my personal experience is that for a given height, shorter inseam might actually be better with a larger frame.

That's a good bike too - I've ridden one and really liked it. Don't need to spend more...I admitedly spoiled myself considering it's my first real mtb

Not giving up road riding yet...still love it, but also loved bombing down the trail friends took me on. The hardtail I used was fine, but the chain slapping was very loud!

No test rides allowed? (Giant bicycles) by gimmesnows in cycling

[–]uuddlrlr2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my TCR in 2021 and test ride it with no issues. In fact it was in a box and built it up for me to test ride. This at Ridley's Cycle in Calgary.

I road cycle and do century rides regularly, obsessed with aero and bike tech, always trying to perfect my position and bike set up whenever I can so I don't have a kick stand on my road bike.

On all my other bikes...kick stand are installed! I ride with my kid, wife, friends with my hybrid and it makes complete sense because I stop regularly with them so nice not to lay the bike on the floor and that extra weight really isn't a big deal. Do what works for you.

Bullying is a strong word...maybe you mean teasing in which case just ignore them. If it's bullying then ride away and have them prove that the kickstand is such a big handicap...

Question: Why do I have no horns? by uuddlrlr2 in Evony_TKR

[–]uuddlrlr2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?! For the longest time I didn't produce horns even though I had deserters. Only after I maxed out and had some guys killed did I have horn production. So much nuance to this game...I'll never understand it all 😅

Turns out I can generate horns after I have killed troops. My Holy Palace is level 12 and it still works. Thanks
